I finally saw "Breakin All The Rules" today, which stars Jamie Foxx as an author of a book about the rules of breaking up. Gabrielle Union plays the girl Foxx falls in love with, and Morris Chestnut plays Foxx's cousin and unknown to Jamie, the ex boyfriend of the girl Foxx falls in love with.
The movie was not bad, actully is was very good. Though it might seem better than it actully is, since the played a trailer for "Soul Plane", which looks awful, and any movie looks great compaired to "Soul Plane."
Anyway the movie is good, the actor that steals the show in my opnion is Morris Chestnut, that guy is very funny in every movie he is in.
The movie did go for some easy laughs with the dog, and the horny old man character.
One scene of the movie rips off an "Honeymooners" episode, the scene when Jamie Foxx takes the dog to the animal shelter, on orders from his girlfriend (Bianca Lawson, who was great as usual). After finding out the shelter will only keep the dog for three days, before putting the dog to sleep. Jamie not only does not put the dog in the shelter, he takes other dogs from the shelter home. Just like Ralph did on an episode of "the Honeymooners".
This movie did use the Bob Newhart formula, the two main characters (Jamie Foxx and Garielle Union) were normal characters, surronded by a bunch of nutty characters. I liked the movie, though I would loved to have seen Bianca Lawson's character and the old man get together. That would been so funny.
The movie did go for the easy laugh, more often than not. But I still recommend it.
