View Full Version : TV LAND will be renamed the Family Entertainment Network in January of 2005
TVFactFan 05-19-2004, 06:37 PM LOL-Just Joking. I feel TV LAND should be renamed the Family Entertainment Network because they are so against controversial scenes, words, and episodes. Most of TV land eps are edited in a way so that the entire Family can watch together which is why It should be called the Family Entertainment Network. Anyone Agree?
barwars 05-19-2004, 06:46 PM You had me going.... until I read that it was you who started the thread.
I think TVLand should stay TVLand.... but either way, I won't need it within a few years, thanks to DVD.
But I hope TVLand stays around for a long time, for future generations -- to enjoy classics from the 1950s-1980s (and eventually acquiring later shows as time goes on)

I call it TV BLAND.
FamilyTiesGOP 05-19-2004, 10:04 PM I believed this for a second or two until I saw it was fake. I hope TV Land will stay the same and at the same time embrace new shows as the years progress. As time goes by I would like a few more 80s shows on there, but I don't want them to forget the really old stuff either.

I call it Blah Blah Blah TV. :p
TVLand had better not change its format of classic TV or I am
going to be there to kick their collective butts!
Mr. Television 05-20-2004, 02:31 AM I don't know why tv land censors these shows since they originally aired back in the 70's. They aren't controversial anymore.

I disagree. It should be renamed "The Nick-at-Nite Wannabe Network".

that makes sense.
its what it was originally intended as.
USTVFanFromUK 05-20-2004, 10:17 PM Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't TV Land air every episide of All In The Family uncut a few years back even the more daring episodes?

Yes, they did air the show unedited back in 1998.

Was that because the Network was NEW at the time?
Chelsea 05-21-2004, 01:56 AM The network was already slightly over two years old at the time, HARDLY new
Jack1000 05-21-2004, 02:11 AM But, in answer to the question, when TV Land first launched (April 1996, I believe) ALL of their shows were shown uncut and commercial free!!!! The only types of commercials that they had, were those old retromercials. Beginning in September 1997, they went to a commercial network, the retromericals were fewer. Now, although they don't edit as badly as Nick-at-Nite, the censoring is sickening.

If the episodes are edited so that the entire family can watch together, that is a good thing. :)

My whole family watched a lot of these shows together when they originally aired. I don't know why today's familys are so worried about the content of these shows. It's not like they're airing Sex And The City.

Somebody actually supports edited syndication?!
From this point forward you have NO credibility.
TV doesn't always have to be aimed at the family.
and it shouldn't be.
People grow up.... TV does too.
You should give it a try.
