I hope someone from here can go watch this in L.A. John has a big role in this documentary, which he did just before he passed away. The premiere is in L.A. on June 6. Hopefully it'll come to TV or video soon, for people like me, who are not in the L.A. area. Here is all the info, and if someone does go, please let us know!

Academy Award Winner Billy Bob Thornton provides the introduction to the documentary GIVEN A CHANCE...A Little Girl's Journey and remembers John Ritter, who was supposed to do the introduction, but unfortunately he passed away. This documentary focuses on adoption for 'special needs' children. GIVEN A CHANCE...A Little Girl's Journey, chronicles the development of Kassie Marriner, drug addicted at birth and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Kassie narrates the documentary and provides the answer to the question, "Who wants to adopt a child with a disability?", and a three word answer to the question, "How do you treat a person with a disability?" - the answer - "Like A Person!" GIVEN A Chance...A Little Girl's Journey is dedicated in loving memory to John Ritter who played an important role in this 'little girl's journey.' John, his brother Tom Ritter, who has CP, Henry Winkler, Nancy Dussault, Tiffani Thiessen and others provide additional inspiration. Recording artist Billy Gilman adds his special touch with the highly honored song "There's A Hero."
GIVEN A CHANCE...A Little Girl's Journey, covers several extremely important issues:
* What life is like adopting a child with a disability...therapies, surgeries,
necessary equipment.
* Dealing with cerebral palsy and other debilitating conditions
* The emotional pain experienced by teens with disabilities in the school
system...being ignored and excluded. A look at the need for educating
students and teachers on the proper treatment of people with disabilities.
* Life as an adult with a disability - socializing, getting around and being
accepted by society.
* Adopted or not, a child with a disability presents challenges.
GIVEN A CHANCE received the SPECIAL JURY PRIZE 2003 Fort Lauderdale Film Festival. and will be at the AFI PERSPECTIVE FILM AWARDS on June 6, 2004 at the Artclight Cinemas in Hollywood.
