The end of an era folks...

As reported in today's New York Times:

This season the New York Yankees stopped selling Cracker Jack at Yankee Stadium in favor of another caramel popcorn treat Crunch 'N Munch.

Blasphemy!

;)

crunch n munch is better tasting anyway. That damn crackerjack is just nasty...dark burnt and low in quality. Crunch N Munch is glazed with a tasty topping.

I guess almost a century of losing the World Series have made some of us here in Red Sox Nation a little nuts.

Actually, the best caramel popcorn for me is Poppycock, the kind with pecans or cashews.

I can hear the Yankee Stadium food vendors now:

"Hey I got Poppycock here!"

"Get yer Poppycock right here!"

;)

let's face it, the only reason Cracker Jacks are still around today is because it is in that horrible little baseball song(written by two guys who never went to baseball game by the way) Cracker Jacks are always stale and those little prizes never lived up to the hype. :)

I can hear it now.

Though you have to hope they don't shorten the call and get rid of the "poppy" part.

http://messenger.msn.com/MMM2004-05-10_17.47/Resource/emoticons/cry_smile.gif Cracker Jack is gone in Yankee Stadium! I guess I'm in the minority of those who likes Cracker Jack and dislikes Crunch N Munch. Despite the majority, how can Yankee Stadium replace a snack that has been a staple of baseball games for over a century?

I don't do well with change. Can ya tell? ;)

Brian, I'll have you know that my engagement ring came out of a Cracker Jack box. It's as beautiful today as it was when my husband unwrapped it from that that little square paper thingy.

Yeah, the hubby's a real sport. ;)

On a different but related topic, here in Boston, they sell Fenway Franks at Red Sox games, and the dogs are also available at the grocery store.

What's your team's signature frank called?

How about the prize with those little books that turned into a little movie when flipped through real fast. Wow, the special effects just blew me away, lol.

Poisonous.

Hmm, I think they serve Hebrew National Hot Dogs at Yankee stadium, and I think the vendors just call them hot dogs.

No need for any fancy shmancy names for our concessions here in NYC.
