Just saw the rerun of the season six premiere episode, "Not Quite New York". While L&S never had a true farewell episode, this episode felt like one.

Edna & Frank are already in California and are preparing to open up Cowboy Bill's, the girls lose their jobs at the brewery and Carmine gives Shirley the goodbye kiss of a lifetime.

Then, the girls remember old times via flashbacks while a Paul McCartney sound-alike sings Yesterday". They say goodbye to the apartment and Laverne leaves her mark with an "L" spraypainted on the door.

For me, it was the farewell, because the show wasn't the same when they were in California and two years later, Shirley would be gone.

yeah that is very true, and a good point, once they moved to california the comedy was not as funny, it was just pretty much losing its heat which was sad...cuz it was so awesome in milwaukee!:(

You are right. When they moved to California it was a shadow of their former self.
