After they show the projects and list the names of the stars they go to a shot of the apartment and zoom in on a portrait of the family (done by JJ I guess!). For some reason, I don't remember this as being the opening during its original run (at least when James was still around). Maybe I'm wrong and the portrait showed up at some point? Thanks for any replies.

Heck, no one would question whether Good Times was a spin-off if they heard the opening lyrics in its original run:

"Temporary lay off...

Good Times...

It's a Maudie spin-off...

Good Time"

They changed it immediately after syndication because the issue was too controversial for its time.

During the James seasons there are 2 different paintings shown in the living room. One shows the family and the other shows people in a pool hall, but I don't remember which painting appears in which seasons. I remember they had a painting of people at a nightclub in year 4. Year 5 is the only one that doesn't have a painting. The first 8 or so in year 6 has another painting (I think of people at a pool hall) and the rest have a painting of the cast which morphs into the actors. I think this is how it goes, though I may be mixing up some of the paintings all of which were done by the same artist.
