Dear Friends and Fellow U/M Fanatics,

What segment(s) of UNSOLVED MYSTERIES have you mystified? I have two that are on my mind right now. I was experiencing a feeling of paralyzing trepidation at being stigmatized as a "ball hog", and for these purposes, in the avoidance thereof, the stories are herein amalgamated.

Ok- the first story was on today at 1PM. It was the story about E.L.F. You know, that weird noise that people have been hearing? To me, there is probably an explanation for it- its just hidden. Is it a scientific explanation? Or, could it be beyond the boundaries of science?

To me, the recreations of the sound really made my blood stir. That sounded SO weird. It reminded me of the soundtrack of an early 70's Horror movie. I would not be annoyed if I heard that perennial sound. I would be horrified! It sounds scary.

Ok: second story...the story of the tragic death of Beverly McGowan. Elaine Parent, as most of you know from having seen updates, killed herself before she could be taken into custody. With her, died the secrets that may never be known.

Ok...first of all, did Parent commit this gruesome murder by herself? How could she do that? I mean, how could she possibly mutilate the body that way. What kind of person can do that, and still sleep at night?

Who was the 'person' who tried to use Beverly's credit card to reserve a rental car in England? Was this a man, or a woman? Did he/she participate in the execution of Beverly McGowan?

So many things are puzzling about that case. What do you think? Any thoughts about what may have happened?

The story about Beverly McGown is very mystifying to me. It's really weird how a transvestite can get involved in this already complex mystery. No one really knows many more details to this case, as the who the transvestite was and how did he get Beverly's credit card? The segment that UM did was from the late eighties and I wonder if there have been any updates to this case. Forensic Science has definately advanced since the late eighties.

The segment couldn't have been from the late eighties as the murder occured in July 1990.

So much from that case perpelexed me. Who was that person who ordered the rental car? What was the description of the person who picked it up at London? Who wrote the letters to Beverly's brother and sister? Why was Beverly chosen, and why did she have to die for so little money? How did this happen so fast? Where did her head and hands go?

I doubt we'll ever know.

Court TV's "The System" had an episode devoted to Elaine Parent. They believe she acted alone, and that she was so good at changing appearances and personalities, the "transvestite" was probably her. They called her "The Chameleon." If you see the various pictures of her, you can see how she might be mistaken for a man or appear as a very attractive woman. I tend to agree that she acted alone. She was a sociopath and no one ever knew the "real" her. I don't think she would have worked with anyone else and that she was totally capable of mutilating someone.
