View Full Version : *throws self thru window* (MSN Messenger trouble)
PZelda 05-13-2004, 01:03 PM ARGH.
I updated to MSN Messenger 6.2, and now it won't let me on at all! It connects me for a split second then I get this...
PZelda 05-13-2004, 01:04 PM And I get this when I go to the Connections tab...I AM connected to the 'net, but it's not detecting a connection
PZelda 05-13-2004, 01:12 PM MEANGYA. I had to do a System Restore to yesterday, because it just wasn't letting me on...I'm on 6.1 again and connected now, but I def. won't be getting 6.2 anytime soon!
Janice 05-13-2004, 01:15 PM Sorry for your computer woes Allison. I hate computers. I like using them, but anything beyond that drives me insane.
Hilarious thread title.

Have you tried a System Restore? Try restoring to the day before your MSN started going wacko.
Penny Lane 05-13-2004, 03:25 PM I haven't connected to MSN for 2 weeks now ever since I upgraded to 6.2. That 6.2 must be the culprit! I really don't want to do a systems restore again. Allison, could you post a link to where you got 6.1? All I can find is 6.2! If I can download 6.1 again I will uninstall 6.2.Thanks!
spunkygirl 05-13-2004, 04:45 PM I had to upgrade to 6.2 to stop the annoying pop up "a newer version of MSN Messenger is available for download" when I downloaded it from the link they showed me it didn't download properly, I had to uninstall the older version, then download 6.2 again, it's okay now.
contact MSN help, and see if they can help you, they've helped me many a time ;)

I tried www.oldversion.com...Believe me, I tried EVERYTHING and a System Restore was the only thing I could do. Don't worry - it's VERY easy to do one and it won't erase anything, it just restores your computer to a point in time to BEFORE that program started screwing up...Think of it as going back in time, but keeping the stuff you saved. :)
It's Start > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
Once you are there, you can select a particular day to go back to, and MSN should be fine again after that. :)
Kazza 05-13-2004, 05:58 PM I had an issue with IE this morning that made me:mad: . My computer turned wacko, it just froze all over and I had to defrost it. LOL :D This ad came up and wouldn't go away and I couldn't close the page, this boxes telling me that trojans and browser hackers were being found. I got EZ antivirus, Ad aware and Spybot installed. GLad nothing happened. I guess I should also download Norton. Anyone having IE headaches??

I downloaded that too! I am worm-free but nothing connected to MSN works! I tried downloading the old MSN messenger but It didn't work either! When I tried to log on it said that I neeced to upgrade to get it to work. That's what started this whole problem in the first place! I even emailed MSN and they suggested several different things but none have worked!

Now are you going to try a system restore? It's VERY easy to do and even novices can do it. It won't mess up your computer or anything. If it worked for I'maDESIlover, it can work for you :D

I tried that but my system restore only will let me go back to May 3 and my problem started about a week before that. So I can't even do that!

I agree!  :mumble:
Brent88 05-14-2004, 08:23 PM Well, there's only one other way I know and your going to hate it.
A destructive system restore, it'll erase EVERYTHING you have except what came with the computer.
:(
