Don't you think it was so werid that America voted LaToya out??
I mean really, LaToya is the best singer on the show! Right before Ryan said she's leaving, LaToya said she could never picture herself going home.
I always thought LaToya was gonna be the next American Idol.

What do you think happened?

And was Jasmine very sad, or was she just happy she was still in?

Jasmine knew she deserved to go, but is still happy to be there.
My opinion is, the majority are of the voters are between the ages of 12-20 (because I don't know any people older than that who vote). If there's a cute guy, they vote for him. If there's no cute guy, then they vote for someone closer to their age. They can probably "relate" to Jasmine more than to LaToya, a classy, mature *woman*. It's not even about the best voice any more, which is what this competition was meant to be.

Thats debatable. Sure the American Idol has to be able to sing, but they should also generate excitement.

In this phase of the competition they all can sing, so stage presence becomes the determining factor.

I suspected that LaToya would leave because even though she can sing, she doesn't generate excitement. Jasmine does.

Furthurmore, I've always said that Fantasia had the best voice and Diana was a close second. With Amy Adams or Jennifer Hudson being third.

Fantasia and Diana should be #1 and #2 because they can sing and they do generate excitement.

LaToya has an understated stage presence, but clearly, she is more talented than Jasmine and should not have been voted out before her.

IMO, people vote for the one to win, and the one they want to see a lot more of after Idol. All ages vote for AI, but yes the majority are the younger viewers, but more often than not, the younger viewers are the ones who will buy the CD's, go to the concerts, and watch on TV. If they happen to enjoy seeing Jasmine more, theyre going to vote for her. IMO, Id rather see Jasmine everywhere after Idol, than La Toya- even if La Toya has the better voice. A good voice doesnt always mean people want to see you all over the place. And just because Jasmine made it past La Toya, doesnt mean you'll never see her again. Just because you have the title, doesnt make you the most popular, as past results have shown. If all the La Toya fans are demanding her, youll see her. If not, then well.. her fans werent as loyal as she thought. I plan on seeing a lot more of JPL, and just because he got voted off last month, doesnt mean he disappeared. Hell, look at William Hung.. he didnt even make it past the first audition. But, people loved and demanded him.. and now hes got an album out.

William Hung is a joke. I can't believe people would even buy his CD. He was funny to watch a few times (key word: watch), but who wants to LISTEN to him?

LOL I agree. I saw him on TV performing after he was off the show and was laughing, then it got old.

Ok, can I ask WHY you wouldnt vote for someone even if they're a better singer, because you dont like looking at them as much as another person? What's the point in even trying to sing well if it's about how you look...?

Bravo, I agree with you. And if I could add, isn't that the reason why Justin won, because of the way he looked and where is he now???

La Toya will rise from this, she showed how much class she has. She didn't have to cry like a baby to get what she wanted.

Jasmine will always use tears to get what she wants.

When I was watching the first American Idol, I never thought Justin had a great voice. He sounded average. Kelly was much better.

LaToya was a good singer... but just plain... boring.

It's not really about if they're enjoyable to look at, in terms of physical features. Because if that was the case, then why did Ruben win last year?

What the ideal American Idol should be is someone who not only can sing well, but someone who excites audiences, has good stage presence/performance skills, has a good personality, and most importantly, is different.

The reason why some people like me didn't want La Toya to win was because she had no personality and didn't bring any excitement to the audience. Plus, she doesn't have anything unique about her voice. There are so many singers who sound just like she does. Fantasia and Diana however, are definitely the first I've seen of their kind. Though Fantasia's voice sometimes sounds like Macy Gray's, the style of music she'd probably sing if she had an album wouldn't sound like Macy at all. Plus, she's a great performer. She is the naturally born star of the competition. Diana could very well be the next of those teen pop singers, like Britney, Christina, Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Simpson, or any of those. But she's got a higher range than any teen pop singer I've ever seen (well maybe she's equal with Kelly).

Even though I really want Diana to win, I wouldn't really mind if Fantasia did.

Well, personally, I dont see Diana as anything close to Britney or Christina, they're totally different....Kelly Clarkson maybe...but Fantasia is more comparable to Britney to me, because they both have very child-like voices, and they're exciting to watch perform....but anyway, I wouldnt be upset if Diana won, atleast I dont think, she has a pretty good voice, but I just like Fantasia better, she works the stage better, and I just think she deserves to win more.

Oh I'm sorry, your right he didn't win. But he was voted on because of the way he looked, and proved how untalented he was by being let go from his contract. Maybe if he cried like a baby he would have kept his contract.

I was shocked when I saw this! LaToya didn't deserve the boot at all , everyone knows Jasmine did , no offense to Jasmine fans , but c'mon , she isn't as good as LaToya , Fantasia , and Diana. Now its Diana , Jasmine , and Fantasia. All I know is that I want Diana to win! :D

I heard that a poll was done before last week, and 42% of Americans thought that La Toya would become the next American Idol. :eek: Second place was Fantasia, but she was way far behind with 26%. Diana followed, and Jasmine was last. How could La Toya have been voted off? ohno:

Probably because some people thought that she did so good, that she would probably just be safe.
But it was very shocking she got kicked off. Everybody was shocked and crying (the judges and contestants were crying).
Jasmine looked a little sad, but I think she was happy too that she was safe.

LaToya was the only one I could see as the American Idol. I just couldn't picture any of the others being the Idol.

Because most of those people don't vote. If they did, Diana would not have been reported to be the top vote getter (according to ET) for the last four weeks (assuming she beat Jas this past week). I think that most of the people who complain about La Toya leaving, like Clay and other people on news shows need to realize that if they didn't vote, they need to shut up.
