What spinoffs do you think are better than the show from which they spunoff??

IMO, The Jeffersons were better than All In The Family. George got into funny situations while Archie was too into the politics.

The Brady Brides, I think, is better than it's parent show. No particular reason, except the Bradys were adults instead of kids.

I give Laverne & Shirley the edge over Happy Days because it was funnier, more slapstick, and more like The Lucy Show.

I agree 100%.

I don't like Happy Days at all, but I can tolerate Laverne and Shirley much better.

Other than that, spinoffs are usually not as good as the original shows in my opinion.

But other than that -- nothing.

I'm not taking anything away from the Cosby Show, it wasn't a success for nothing, but A Different World was better. There's only so many family situations that remained interesting on Cosby, while ADW had a wide array of characters to create involving storylines around.

I absolutely loathe Happy Days, but Laverne & Shirley is one of my favorite sitcoms.

I like The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes about equally -- it all depends on the season. Ditto with All in the Family, The Jeffersons, and Maude.

I agree with this. ADW (after year 1) went off and got its own vibe and could have probably ran longer than 6 years and had at least one spinoff of its own. Cosby Show started good and declined, while ADW got more interesting with each season.

Jeffersons and All in the Family were both decent series both of which weren't as good in the end, but All in the Family fell off much worse than Jeffersons did, so for that I say Jeffersons was a better show overall, though AITF was much more revolutionary and groundbreaking.

I wish I remembered Brady Brides better, but I think it probably was a much better show than the original or that retched variety hour from the mid70s.

I wish I remembered Maude better to compare it to Good Times, but from what I remember Maude was OK, but Good Times was very good.

The Andy Griffith Show was funnier than Make Room for Daddy.

Frasier was better than Cheers.

Facts of Life was better than Diff'rent Strokes.

plus, ADW isn't as overplayed.


I also agree with Facts Of Life being better than Diff'rent Strokes, and I'd also take what I've seen of Frasier over the Rebecca years of Cheers.

I disagree.... I think Make Room for Daddy is better than The Andy Griffith Show.... but thats just me.

I agree except for the ones without Barney Fife.Don Knotts had the best characters i.e Barney Fife & Ralph Furley

"Rhoda" was better than "Mary Tyler Moore"
"Good Times" was better than "Maude"

Frasier is slightly better than Cheers

The Facts of Life was definatly better than Diffrent Strokes.

"Family Matters" was better than "Perfect Strangers"

Frasier is better than Cheers.

The Jeffersons is better than All in the Family.
