I was checking out the episode guide of Friends at TVtome and I noticed that more than a few of the episodes run over 24 minutes. Heck, the pilot unedited runs 29 minutes and on my local station, it runs 21 minutes. That's 8 minutes right there. I'm not sure I want to watch this show on TBS or my local station anymore.

I actually did try a side-by-side comparison with an episode that was airing on the local Fox channel, and the episode on DVD (the first episode Bruce Willis appeared in) and I spotted at least 10 edits and almost the entire Phoebe storyline was edited out in the rerun, as well as a few scenes with Joey were cut down.

I decided to do one of those side-by-sides just for the hell of it to see just how much extra is on the DVD than if I'm just to watch it on reruns, and the picture quality was much better too. Some of the early seasons are starting to get really grainy in reruns, while on DVD it still looks like it did the night they premiered on NBC.

To be fair, though, wasn't that episode originally 45 minutes? Part of the "Supersize Friends" stunt?

nope, Supersize Friends didn't start until season 7
