I need help!!! :mad:


The Carol Burnett special, "Let's Bump Up the Lights", airs on Wednesday night and CBS's site has a thing where you can vote for your fave Carol Burnett "Let's bump up the light" clips from her original show...On Thursday morning, she'll announce the winners. Voting closes Wednesday night.


Anyhoo, I've been able to view clips from CBS before, but now nothing is coming up!!!! Help! I want to view the clips so I can vote! :crying:

The :quest: mark that's on the top in this screencap wasn't any help, either...it just points out what part of the window does what...:(

The only thing I can think of, is maybe that video is getting a lot of requests at the moment. It doesn't seem very likely that would be the case, but a majority of the time that's what the problem is. Or you're missing a plug-in, but if you've been able to watch it before, that can't be the problem either.

It was midnight when I accessed their site. :p :lol: So I strongly doubt the server was busy...



I was able to view a CBS clip once -- I think it was last fall - I went to CBS' site to view a "Yes, Dear" clip for an episode that Vicki guested in...but that was on another computer. :(

I know what the problem is...Hmm...Just need a filetype...

Well, when I loaded the popup window, RealPlayer loaded the clip, so I would just download the new version of it. It's possible that they're using a filetype that defaults to my RP anyway, but I'm willing to guess that the file CBS is using is an embedded Real file (as I don't remember setting up my RP to play anything else)

Anyway, this means you need to download RealPlayer. You essentially have two options.

For the newest version, go to http://www.real.com, click "Download RealPlayer", then click "Download Free RealPlayer". Follow the instructions, you should be set.

BUT, there's a 2nd option, since, IMO, the last 3 versions of RealPlayer are utter crap.

Go to http://www.oldversion.com. Look for "RealPlayer" on the main page. Click the link. Choose RealPlayer 8 (IMO, the best version...It'll still play 99.8% of the files of RP10 with proper updates). Download THAT, and there you go.

(FWIW: RP 1-7 tend to have a gradually increasing number of compatibility issues going down the line (Especially up to G2), but 8 is still good (7 wouldn't be the worst in the world, but 8 is still better)

AHA! That was it! I uninstalled RP about 2-3 months ago. I know about OldVersion.com - I LOVE that site. Thanks, I'll go try it right now and see what happens. :D
