View Full Version : Changing your hair colour
Jokerette 05-10-2004, 05:16 PM Who here has changed their hair colour before? What's your natural colour and what did you change it to?
In a few weeks I'm going to be having my hair died blonde. I'm a natrual brunette so this is a HUGE change for me but I can't wait! I'm a little nervous but very excited...I want to experiement with my looks a bit and see if I can find a new style, I'm so bored of just being same old me all the time.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-10-2004, 05:50 PM I get my hair done all the time. Ive highlighted it blonde, red, and brown before. Ive gotten lowlights. I had pinkish extensions put in last October, and went blonde summer of 00.. BAD idea -.- I went red the next summer, but hated it after.. now I want it again. Lately though Ive been sick of highlights (Ive had them since 8th grade), so the past year Ive been going as dark as I can. Id like to go black but it wouldnt look good on me. I havent gotten my hair done since December 4th :faint: so Im long over-due. I dunno if I wanna go dark again and keep it, or have color chunks thrown in too. Right now I really like Mandy Moore's hair color, so I dunno. Christinas new red is pretty too. But I cant pull off certain reds, and Im sick of the light hair. I saw a pretty color in a box @ the store last week, but I would never dye my own hair.
Mijada 05-10-2004, 06:31 PM I've never colored my hair but I think I may have to start seeing as I've found a few grey ones in recent months.

My natural color is med. dark brown.
I have colored my hair light-brown to redish-brown then bright-red then back to dark-brown.
:wazzup
PZelda 05-10-2004, 06:49 PM I have dark brown hair...Yes, I've dyed it. I started dying in 1996 or so...I did my own hair with the DIY kit...I always got really good results with doing it at home :) However, the last time I dyed my hair was in October 2001, and I have no intentions to start up again anytime soon. I wuv my haircolor. :D
I've gone:
-Light/medium brown
-black
-auburn
-had blonde highlights put in my hair
-*Forever*- 05-10-2004, 06:52 PM Blonde -> Light reddish -> Maroon (Sharon Osbourne's color) -> Dark brown (almost black) -> BRIGHT red -> Dark brownish-red -> Red -> Pink
I had highlights in there too at some point. The first time I ever dyed my hair was 7th grade. I think the next color coming is black.
I wanna get it professionally done though, something I've never done.
G-Force Glockstar 05-10-2004, 06:52 PM My parents won't let me get it died!!! :(
But if I could (which I probably will when I'm 18 'cause that's when I'm allowed), I'll die it really dark black. Or I'll just get those blonde yellow highlighs. They're both really pretty, IMO.
But the blonde yellow highlights are more catchy.
Krisalicious 05-10-2004, 07:33 PM My hair is naturally black, but after I was 11 or 12, it started turning dark brown. I started highlighting my hair when I was 12. I'd always get light red highlights that would eventually completely fade to either golden blonde or strawberry blonde. My highlights now are erm...I don't even know actually. I want to say light brown....*shrug*.
Ewan's My Man 05-10-2004, 08:52 PM I love my hair and I'd never dye it. I mean unless it's wash out stuff. I have incredibly dark brown hair, almost black. And it's curly and I have really pale skin so it looks good...if I do ay so myself ;)
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 05-10-2004, 08:58 PM MAJOR HAIR ADVICE:
Do not, I repeat do not use that Sun-In crap. Take it from me, who used the whole bottle in 3 days -.- it made my hair BLONDE (it was brown with some highlights at the time), and when I went to get my hair dyed blonde a few months later.. they had to darken it first otherwise it wouldve turned white. Plus, its just a bad product to use on your hair anyways.

I used Sun-In when I was in 8th grade. OMG, I almost forgot about that. I was weird - I liked the smell of it!
Lady T 05-10-2004, 10:01 PM My natural hair color is a rich, chocolate brown; but one day I decided to bleach my hair blonde, and I have been a dark blonde every since....:)
dawsongirl 05-10-2004, 11:45 PM Blonde highlights only. I'm a medium brunette.
I'm also 24 and have several grey hairs. ohno:
Janice 05-10-2004, 11:51 PM I've been having my hair professionally highlighted my entire adult life. Mother Nature made a mistake because I was born to be blonde. :D
GabbyFang 05-10-2004, 11:59 PM I've got brown hair. I wont be changing my hair color any time soon. Mabye when my Buggy(car) gets sold. I should be 30 around then.
Cashodeen 05-11-2004, 01:40 AM I used to get my hair dyed at salons all the time. My hair's natually a rather dark brown. I've had full dye jobs to make it different shades of brown, and I've had highlights where it would look basically blonde all over.
I had my hair dyed back to my natural colour last June, and haven't done anything since. I feel like dying it again though, but I don't know colour to choose.
Jokerette 05-11-2004, 12:15 PM I'd only ever get my hair dyed professionally. I don't trust myself or anyone I know to do it. I'd never do it myself after I've seen the mishaps that've happened to some people I know. I wanna be blonde not orange. :D

That only happens if you buy a DIY blonde dying kit.
Fortunately, I've never been stupid enough to do that. ;)
Hollow 05-11-2004, 03:54 PM right now its blonde with black tips.

right now its blonde with black tips. Oooh cool, kind of like Terri Nunn in the Berlin video Take My Breath Away? I always liked that look. :)
Penny Lane 05-11-2004, 06:57 PM My natural hair color is brown. Very boring. I have changed my hair color more times than I can count! I have been auburn, dark brown and blond. I have remained a blonde for about 10 years now.
It suits me!
Penny Lane 05-11-2004, 07:01 PM I only use Loreal Excellence Creme NB 9 1/2. It covers the gray ! The only one that works for me!

To get rid of the orange you need to strip your hair. I did that many years ago and I dye my roots every 6 weeks and no orange (except for my rusty water ) which tends to turn my hair orangy. To solve that problem I mix lemon- ade koolaid in my shampoo and it removes the rust very effectively. Beauty shops gouge their customers for this rust removing process! Use lemonaid Koolaid! It works! :happyface
dandelion wine 05-11-2004, 07:14 PM I've never dyed my hair, except the one time when I had it highlighted as a kid. Since I have them anyway, I quit doing the dye thing and decided to keep my natural color: A deep, rich dark brown.
Crimson and Clover 05-11-2004, 07:19 PM My natural color is brown. Ive had it:
black, pink, red, green, blue, blonde, orange, half black/half blonde, a dark burgundy color, purple, and right now its brown and i just dyed the ends pink

I was blonde until I was about 3. Then my hair went dark. :(
I should dye it back to its baby color.

Thats what happened to me.
Jokerette 05-12-2004, 04:07 PM Yeah I was a golden blonde until I was about six, then it went to a brown-red colour and has been the same since. Not for much longer, though.
EmoJoe 05-13-2004, 08:48 PM Nope. My hair has stayed the same, except for being cut every month or so.
