Man, I can't believe Leave it to Beaver hasn't been released on DVD yet. Does anybody know when and if this series will be released on DVD?

Thanks,

Skinny

Get in line, Skinny1, because many of us LITB fans have been wondering and waiting for that to happen for a long time now. Nobody seems to know definitively why LITB has not been released as yet.

Check out the above link to add your "Vote" for LITB on DVD. (Although it appears to be coming at some point in the future from Universal Home Video. But perhaps a load of votes might get it produced more rapidly.)

Also check out that poor misguided Amazon reviewer on that Amazon Sign-Up Page. (The person who gave Beav only a "1-Star" ranking. :()

Tarring & Feathering is the only fair punishment for a person who thinks that LITB is "torture" to sit through. I can think of NO other recourse, but to take that foolish individual out behind the Cleaver garage and beat the living crap out of her! :bash:

I just got that notice today about the first season of LITB being released on DVD in 2005, and I can't wait! I am so happy and I can't believe that they finally are releasing it! I had heard recently that is would be, "soon" but I didn't know it would be THAT soon! We have all waited so long! I told my Mom about it and she said, "Oh we will have to get that for you!" LOL.

Hello
I'm new here, so if I make any mistakes, then please forgive me.
I'm trying to find where Hugh Beaumont lived at during his years in Hollywood or
at least during the Beaver years and was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out. What I'm looking for is the address, street name, ect. I'd appreciate it.
Back in the 1980s I applied for a job at Universal Studios, along with about
twenty other people. We were put in a room where we would be brifed on
what jobs were being offered, ect. In the corner was a large styrofoam head
stone that said CLEAVER. I had no idea what it was there for but I figured it
was an old prop was the tv show. I worked there for about a year before
moving to Oregon. When the tv movie "Still The Beaver" aired my wife and I
tuned in. And there it was - that head stone that I had seen with the name
CLEAVER on it.During the time that I worked at the studio, I never forgot
about that head stone and planned to find it and take a picture. But, I never
did. Anyway, I thought you might enjoy the story.
Thanks
Bob

Guys,

Play your LITB lost pilot episodes if you can please and let me know how many of you had a problem with them, Thanks! Some are reporting problems with the "It's A Small World" Episode.

Are you DVD owners noticing a lot of restored footage that you didn't see on TV Land or Syndication?

I have the Lunch box edition. No problems whatsoever. It's perfect including the pilot. A scene in "Water, Anyone" is restored. It's a scene where Tooey's mom mentions juvenile delinquency and communism in connection with Beaver's little water business. The scene is cut in TVLand's airings.:talk:

The pilot episode plays fine my standard issue DVD. I did notice the audio/video synch seems to fall a little bit off during the episode "My Brother's Girl" on disc 2. It appears to drift a bit about halfway through the scene with Beaver and Mary-Ellen in the cafeteria. Nothing major, though.

WOW!!!!!

Just got my LITB Season 1 DVD today!!!!! The clarity on these episodes is STUNNING!!!! (Check out the very first one, Beaver Gets "Spelled") Picture quality doesn't get better than this! So far the episodes look great! I have only gone through the first four episodes so far. What a difference!

Guys,

One small glitch on mine: At the very end of "Cleaning up Beaver" when Beaver is talking to Larry, sometimes the disk will freeze at the part where Larry says he gets lonley by himself to the part where Beaver decides to comb his hair as part of the deal he made with Wally. (Just before the end credits.) I wiped it off with a clean lint-free cloth (center to edge) and sometimes that same spot every time will play ok sometimes not. Not sure of returning it for fear of other disks from Universal having similar problems. (This is a common problem with Universal and double-sided disks.) But if I get another freeze up, it might have to go back. We shall see. Always take a dry lint-free cloth and clean the disks first. (center to edge in a straight line, not circular motion.) Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of smudge to get on them, and they can skip. I also noticed on the disk very very faint scuff marks inside of the coating, but there is one part where there looks like there might be a little centimeter of gunk that I can't get off with the cloth.

I got mine for Christmas to. I got the Lunchbox one. I love the menus and everything. One thing I would have changed is to have a card with what episodes are on which disc. I love how they open the episode before the opening. Thank God for DVD's. I hope season 2-6 come out.

I picked this up the other day, along with another Adam 12. I hope I have better luck with this one than I did with Adam 12. On it, disc two, side one does not play, and on disc side two, the least two shows don't play. It's the second set I've bought, and both have done the same thing! I bought my first Adam 12 when it came out (lost my receipt), and waited for a bit, so that the glitches would be worked out...I was wrong.

I am thinking I may just return my LITB before opening. I see from reading here that Universal seems to have some problems with their discs. I am really disappointed that they are selling these things in the condition that they are.

With regard to the play problems of the disks: (Reply to the user with the Adam 12 DVD difficulties.)

I had a small glitch on "Cleaning Up Beaver." ( About a 10 second freeze at the very end of the episode.) I took a clean, lint-free cloth and wiped the disk (center to edge in a straight line.) Ran it through the DVD Player, FF to the spot about 5x and it finally played without the skipping. (All the other episodes played great.) I also have both Seasons of The Munsters, and am going through Season 2 now, and it's beautiful (except for the packaging) I took the disks out and ordered some clear plastic DVD cases for them before I got the set.

A few questions/things to consider:

1.) Clean your Adam 12 disks using the method above. Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of dirt or something that can get on the disk and cause them to skip. When was the series released?

2.) I also wait 3-4 weeks or more before purchasing any new DVD releases now as it takes time to get bugs out of the early disks. This is a good idea.

3.) Do you have a quality DVD player? Sometimes basment-bargin DVD players will not play certain disks. Have you tried the disk on another DVD player with the same play problems?

4.) Is it the whole disk or selected portions that do not play?

I'll try the cleaning method you suggested.

I own a Panasonic and Sony (2 different ones) DVD players, so they aren't cheapies. My Adam 12 DVD's (both sets) also skips in the exact spot when I play them in my Acura MDX DVD player (all of side one on disc two won't play, and the last two shows on side 2, disc two skip). So, it's the DVD.

I did wait until recently to purchase the second DVD with the thought that if there was a bug, surely they had it worked out. I bought the first one last fall (or whenever it came out) and the second one a couple of weeks ago. So it looks like the problem is still there. I'm inclined to think they have the problem, since I've seen others who've posted and have the exact problem I have. But I will try cleaning it...it can't hurt. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

The Beaver DVD's are great, the only thing I don't like is the double sided DVD's. With material on both sides, the chance is too great that the DVD's might get damaged/scratched. For a classic show like this, Universal shouldn't be so cheap and issuing the sets with 6 DVD's instead of 3 would be the right thing to do. But the shows are great. Season three hopefully will be out later in '06, seasons four and five in '07, and season six in '08.

Yecch! I hate that too. Double sided is so cheesy. And the LITB sets I've seen are not cheap. And double sided means having to be ultra-careful. One sided may take up a little more space, but I like having a readable print label on one side. I like LITB, but I'm not ready to do a season by season here yet--esp. if double sided is the case. Glad to hear the eps are of good qual. though
