If I were Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara--two of the funniest comedy duo's EVER--I would be so ashamed at the body of "work" my son (the act-OR) is racking up. He's a relatively bright and personable young man who seems only to make films in which he is constantly stuck on an overflowing toilet--or having severe distress in a toilet situation. How far does he think this "bathroom" humor will carry him? What are your thought on Ben Stiller and his films? PS...I think he basically looks like a chimp...

I agree. He continuously does the same role over and over. I hope he starts choosing some better ones soon! It has become highly repetitive and boring. The last one I saw was Along Came Polly, and that was ridiculous. I agree about Jerry Stiller. He is HILARIOUS on King of Queens.

come on, not ALL of Ben's movies are bad. A shame that people have forgotten the genius potential he showed in the early stages of his career thanks to him playing seemingly the same character in every movie since There's Something About Mary (okay, Zoolander was good, but he WROTE that one, most of the other crappy roles he gets were written for him, not by him)

No, I don't think they're ALL bad, but many of them are. I think I'm one of the few who did not like There's Something About Mary. I didn't find much humor in it.

Piece of dreck. Nothing funny about it at all. I am just not a fan of what I call BFM's. "Bodily Function Movies."

I loved Meet The Parents and The Royal Tenenbaums. I think Ben Stiller is funny although I don't care for all of his movies.

The Royal Tenenbaums was good...but his role wasn't why I thought so.

Ben is a funny and talented guy, but he's a bit overexposed.

He's been in 5 movies this year already!

He needs to stop taking every role offered to him, and maybe concentrate on writing and directing his own projects.

Ben is an ok actor, but I agree that it's getting boring seeing him always playing the same character. There's Something about Mary was ok- it's a very overrated film (everyone else I know loves it- the 'hairgel' thing is over! It's over!). I want to see Our House (formerly known as Duplex) when it's released here- but I think I'm drawn to see it because of the funny old lady (funny old ladies are hilarious in movies!) more than the other actors. His character in There's Something About Mary is basically the same as the one in Meet the Parents.

The only different roles I've seen him in are Zoolander, Mystery Men (an ok film I'll admit) and Starsky and Hutch (but even then he was kind of boring). I think it's time Stiller takes on a dramatic role- instead of milking this cash cow for as lnog as it'll last.

It's okay to admit you liked "Mystery Men" Webuster.

I thought it was pretty underrated.

I disagree. He's done some great films:

-Reality Bites
-Heavyweights
-The Cable Guy
-There's Something About Mary
-Meet The Parents
-The Royal Tenenbaums

His short-lived show on Fox was really good, too (a bit dated, though).

I'd also add Flirting With Disaster to that list

Ben actually played a drug addict in a movie that came out not too long after There's Something About Mary, needless to say, none of the "Ben Stiller is so funny" fans went to see it

it's a shame that a few crappy films like Envy, Along Came Polly (this movie was only a success because of Jennifer Aniston) and Duplex, where he plays the same character, has gotten a lot of people to forget that when the material clicks with Ben, he can be hysterical.

I felt robbed even though I saw it for free.

I think to say his parents should be ashamed of him is going to far. He has had some great comic characters over the past (Zoolander and White Goodman [Dodgeball] and the guy he played in Mystery Men being [IMO] the best) and when he plays those sort of unbelievable over the top characters, he steals the show. Although I admit I am getting tired of the sad, toilet-joke-kinda-guy-role he seems to be getting stuck in (Along came Polly, Meet the parents, There's something about Mary) I'd like to see him as an over the top character more often. :D

 Someone else has noticed! He DOES.
However that does not cloud my judgment of him.I think he's quite amusing as an actor, and I dont mind his humour, but I think he should branch out more.Infact I dont care because I'm not a Ben Stiller fan anyway.I liked Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers, but he's not the funniest character in either movies.I really hated Dodgeball,I thought that was crap, and i HATED Zoolander.
