View Full Version : Super Fly
TVFactFan 05-08-2004, 08:34 AM I never saw anything in reference to this character but it was mentioned once on Sanford and Son and Fred even wore a Superfly outfit. Superfly was also mentioned on the Jeffersons by George but I don't think it was ever mentioned on Good Times. So has anyone saw this character in a movie at all?
bgppapmp 05-08-2004, 06:06 PM Superly is an early 1970's blaxploitation film, it was very influential on black cinema.

On another funny note, remember the episode where Fred thinks he is dying and "Freddie's Dead" comes on the radio? I believe it's called "Libra rising over Lamont" or something. This is another reference to Superfly. "Freddie's Dead" is one of the songs from the movie.
marvin g 05-10-2004, 09:00 PM Lenny was "super-fly" on Good Times. ;)

is that who lenny was trying to IMITATE?
FredFan55 05-11-2004, 04:34 PM Let's not forget the episode where Fred brings home a woman he's seeing, and introduces Lamont, only to find out they had once been lovers.
When asked why she didn't recognize his last name of Sanford when they first met, the woman said "well, he didn't say is name was Lamont Sanford", to which Fred replied "who'd he say he was, Superfly?".
The name Lamont had given her was his standard alias "J. Rue Perot".

Judy: Lamont, wait!
Lamont: No. I've got to tell him now. Pop, Judy and I are lovers.
Fred: But.....I wasn't gone but 5 minutes!

jekouptown 05-14-2004, 02:41 PM Ron O'Neal played superfly. He died last year rather quietly. There was not much made about his death.

Which is sad because I think his character that he portrayed, although not the greatest role model, was an icon. JMO!
