I thought it was kind of a strange ending since the charaters mentioned they were headed to Central Perk and we never saw it.

it always leaves you thinking what they talked about that last time.
it leaves your imagination to figure it out.

Maybe that can be the unseen footage on the DVD

In an interview with Dateline NBC David Crane said they ended before them going to Central Perk because he couldn't imagine what they would have talked about that would have been more appropriate to close the series. Having them leave the apartment together for the last time on the way to Central Perk (with Chandler saying "where") was the best way to end the series.

I hope that the lost footage on the DVD is some of the lines that spoilerflix.com said would be there that were not, such as Ross asking Rachel to be his fourth wife (and Rachel saying she will be better than his third wife, which of course was Rachel very briefly from a drunker stupor to Vegas). Also, we did not get to see them walk into together to Monica's and Chandler's apartment to see their reaction and to hear Pheobe say "this is better than my ending".

I'm in agreement with David Crane. What would they have said?? I mean, that last scene was perfect! The six of them walking out of the apartment they had spent so much of their lives in over the last 10 years to go face the future. I don't think anything they could have done with Central Perk could have possibly beat that ending.

I agree. I don't see why people wanted it to end at central Perk. The apartment was just as important of a setting and they were leaving it for the last time.

I think the ending was fine as is. Yes, Central Perk was a major part on the show, but Monica's apartment has always been the central "home" of the series, having them pack up and have the gang all turn in their keys was a far better way to end the series because so much in the shows 10 year run happened in Monica's apartment

And theres the fact that they can ALWAYS come back to Central Perk.... so they never really have to say goodbye to that.
