What are some songs about friendship that you all like? I'm listening to the original version of Lean On Me by Bill Withers from 1972 right now and it's great. You've Got A Friend has withstood multiple and very different interpretations and is very good too. Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway have a very interesting cover from 1971. Whenever I Call You Friend by Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks is superb. You Are My Friend by Patti Labelle is pleasant enough.

These are all very old songs. Are there any current friendship (platonic/nonromantic or sexual) songs that are enjoyable?

I love "With a little help from our friends"-Joe Cocker *giggles* and..."I'll be there for you"-Rembrants. Both really good theme songs, too.

That's a different "You Got A Friend" and a different Donnie (not Hathaway.) Sample lyric:

The laughter of a playing child
A kiss of love so tender and mild
These are essential to my well being

But it doesn’t mean anything
If you don’t have a friend today
Trees could clap and birds could sing
Till heaven and earth pass away
But you don’t have to worry
You got a friend
