Lots of gloomy, doomy, miserable subjects prevail around here....let's turn it around.

What is the Happiest Media or News Event you can remember or relate to? :D

I can start by saying I have watched the Royal Family since I was 13. So that's 31 years  of weddings and royal babies, etc. I think Princess Anne's wedding to Capt. Mark Phillips was the most exciting and happy event for me news-wise. Then of course Diana and Charles' wedding. And Fergie and Andrew's. They were happy events. Here in the US I enjoyed Tricia Nixon's wedding, which was broacasted live in the early 70's. I remember when the Viet Nam war ended as well.

Hmmmm - This is a hard one. I have to say the Landing on the Moon.

David Dinkins becoming mayor of NYC in 1989. I met him in 1987. Very nice man, though probably too nice for the brutal job of being mayor of a place like NYC.

Not too many other media events made me gleeful. Maybe some of the records or tv shows I liked winning grammy or emmy awards. That's about it.

When they found Elizabeth Smart alive. I wish more missing persons cases would end that happily. Of course, no child should have to go missing in the first place.

Of course the first thing that came into my mind was seeing the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. Now, that was a BIG event!:happyface

This is how they looked then. Oh My................................................. :eyes:

I guess the Elizabeth Smart story would be the happiest for me. :)
Also when the Berlin wall came down.

A couple of other events would be the moon landing(My husband still insists that that is Arizona!)

Coverage of the Bi-Centennial . A big deal was made out of that!

The Watergate hearings. This was before cable TV and it was on every channel! That got old really quick! :D

I really can't think of many. I mean I was happy when they found lost children, but I wasn't beaming with happiness. I seem remember the unhappy stuff more.
