Which was the best period?

I picked the earlier years, though I admit I do like That's So Raven

Anything that was on Disney before 1998 was better.

I miss the REAL Disney channel. We started paying for Disney in 1995, and it was there that Disney introduced me to a wonderful TV program called "Avonlea". I miss that show sooooooo much. :( I unfortunately only caught the last season (as it ended in the spring of 1996), and shortly thereafter, Disney yanked it.

I miss Flash Forward so much. Disney channel's just crap now.

It turned into crap when stupid "zoog" disney took over. I loved watching "muppets tonight" that show ****ing rocked. i like "dave the barbarian" though, it's funny as hell. the only reason i started watching it was because metallica did voices for it though :grr:

Ahhhh yes...I remember when Zoog took over...That was in the summer of 1999, and I remember Disney started doing their monthly TV movies, and one of the first that they aired was "Smart House". I have that on tape somewhere. :lol:

It's been ages since they showed "Muppets Tonight", I TOTALLY remember that show! They have to bring it back :mad:

I miss the early years, from the late 80s to the early 90s. They used to air Disney movies from what I remember. I have Pinocchio and Robin Hood recorded from the 1980s. I used to have Flight of the Navigator that was also recorded from around that time but we had to clear out all old tapes and it was one of them. On the tape, it had Jay Underwood, who played the title character in "The Boy Who Could Fly" saying to the viewer not to attempt to fly and explained why.

I remember Mousterpiece Theater and all the short cartoons that the channel would air.

Does anybody remember Danger Bay? I wish I could have watched it then or knew how to work a VCR. That's a show that needs to be aired again.

I liked the Disney Channel when we didn't have it. My grandparents did though and I would make it a goal to watch it when we visited them. I liked it a lot when Growing Pains was airing on there. When I was younger I also liked the old kiddie shows that used to air on there. Now that my cable system added it to our lineup, I have no interest in it at all.

We started getting Disney in 1999 or so if I remember correctly. I only watched it a couple of times for a movie or something. Haven't watched that channel in years now. :crazy:

I used to love preview weekends. They always had there best programs on then. We never did subscribe though and when it became free, it just wasn't as good anymore.

My favorite show was Growing Pains, but does anybody remember "The Torkelsons"? I used to like that show some too.

The only reason I watch Disney Channel now is for Boy Meets World :D Even though they treat the show like crap :mad:

I sometimes love Disney Channel. Back in 1983, the Disney Channel was no "Lizzie McGuire" and no "That's So Raven". They used to show the old cartoons, TV shows and movies. I was sad that the Disney Channel yanked out in 2002 before making way to a teeny bopper channel.:( That's sad. I have all the Disney live action movies and shows I copied off of TV since the overnight block "Vault Disney" was used to be the best block for old shows. I missed "Vault Disney".

The 80's and 90's Disney channel was the best the one now isn't even watchable. They don't even show their Disney movie classics anymore.

I REALLY wish I had taped stuff off Disney regularly. The only thing I have is 40 minutes of an episode of Avonlea (Avonlea was normally 60 minutes long), and my copy is pretty scrambled now :(

i used to love disney channel in its early years. but now i hate it. like lizzie mcguire( can't stand it), thats so raven ( worst show on the planet), even stevens (ugh) and others. i only like sister, sister on disney channel but its not even made by disney so.. yea :)

They aired Beetlejuice a couple of years ago. But they edited it quite a bit for the younger viewers.

Yep, my tape from 1991 had a few previews for a few R-rated(!) movies they showed, like the National Lampoon Vacation movies.

I even saw Jaws on there once LOL and I used to get the Disney Channel magazine guide thing in the mail too

I miss the Disney of the early-mid 90's, when they had "adult" stuff (well, family oriented stuff, but things adults could watch moreso than kids) at night, they used to have music specials for the likes of David Bowie, Celine Dion, Fleetwood Mac and The Bee Gees, and also aired movies, UNEDITED..... now Disney shows their kids shows 24/7 and when they show movies, have commercials

I agree, my sentiments exactly. Back in the day, Disney was like Nick At Nite, where after 8-9 pm, they switched to a channel for adults, since they know kids SHOULD be asleep and not watching Raven episodes at 1 am, LOL.

When I was young, I really liked Under the Umbrella Tree, Gummi Bears, and Care Bears. Of course, I didn't have Disney back then so I only could watch when I visited my grandparents.

But I blame the collapse of those kinds of kid shows on the need that everything needs to be educational. You know, everything today needs to teach you how to count or something all the time. Nothing can be just fun to watch anymore for little kids.

Yeah, they used to do "Vault Disney" at midnight. I didn't like the shows, but the little theme song they played was good.
