Hi all! I've created a post for anyone to post anything related to the 70's group The Carpenters. Feel free to post pictures, comments, or anything you like about my favorite music group!

The Carpenters Rule!

My Favorite song of theirs is "Superstar".

My favorite song is Maybe It's You, the version not on Close To You, but on the Essential Collection Disc 1.

Too bad she had so many emotional problems, they were very talented. She was ghastly thin in the later years.

Rock critics like to bash this kind of music but you can walk into any record shop and find a whole row of their CDs including the old albums not just greatest hits packages.

I like I Need to Be in Love, Top of the World, Only Yesterday, There's A lind of Hush, We've Only Just Begun, All You Get From Love is A Love Song, Touch Me When We're Dancing, Hurting Each Other and Sing the best.

I want "we've only just begun" to be played at my wedding.

I loved The Carpenters. Karen had the voice of an angel. Superstar, Rainy Days and Mondays, We've Only Just Begun and Hurting Each Other are just a few of my favorite songs. They've covered some wonderful Christmas classics as well.

Critics can bash all they want, yet The Carpenters music is timeless and played continuously on soft rock stations over 20 years after Karen's tragic death. Their legacy endures.

I was saddened by her death. I did remember seeing her singing (back in the days) with her brother and thinking WoW those 2 are so skinny................

I always thought the same thing. I wonder if Richard had an eating disorder at one time himself. He looks skeletal at times.

OK, guys, Richard never had an eating disorder. I know a lot about the Carpenters and I'm 99% sure that Richard never had an eating disorder.

Well, sort of. He became addicted to Qualudes, which is some kind of sleeping pill, or something. No other drugs, though.

Any medication that is abused of ,is a drug since you are addicted to it.

All of a sudden, I've had Superstar stuck in my head for some reason.

BTW, everyone, excellent news! Richard Carpenter has an official Carpenters website up now. It's at http://www.richardandkarencarpenter.com/ and it looks great. Keep checking back, because it's updated often! :D

Woo hoo! I just got my extremely rare Carpenters Karaoke CD yesterday! It has 15 of the Carpenters songs done instrumentally by the Carpenters. The only song that whoever created the CD messed up on was Superstar. You can still hear Karen's vocals in the background, unlike the other songs where you can't hear her vocals at all. :lol:

I love The Carpenters. I have a record,tapes,and cds of them.

I like "Superstar." My mom played this song off their third album when I was about five or six, and my one-year-old sister loved because when Karen and Richard sang about a "baby,' my sister thought they were singing about her! :lol:

I know this is a VERY old thread, but I just HAD to post in it!

I LOVE the Carpenters! They are my favorite group of all time and I just *adore* every song they sung. My favorite is without a doubt "We've Only Just Begun." I think that Karen's vocal range is really showcased in it, as in the beginning, she has a higher pitch, but in the second verse, her tones become more bold. And how can you not love the pre-disco dance section of the song?

Thanks to Stormchaser KC, I have WOJB, and "For All We Know," "It's Going to Take Some Time," and "Top of the World" saved on my computer in nice crystal clear MP3s. I also downloaded a great MP3 of "Close to You" a loooong time ago, and I forgot where I got from lol

I also wanted to add that Karen Carpenter has the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Her death is just another reason why her songs need to preserved for years to come. People may bash, but there is no denying the perfect harmonies and flawless melodies of the Carpenters' songs.

Anyway, I agree. I have that book, and have read a lot of it, although I haven't read it completely.

Anither thing about "Superstar. . . ." It was co-written by Leon Russell and Bonnie Bramlett. Bonnie Bramlett, of course, was the soulful better half of Delaney and Bonnie, and Leon Russell is one of the great geniuses of rock and roll, in songwriting, singing, producing, piano playing, you name it. :)

I think Bonnie Bramlett is awesome. I haven't heard too much of her music, but I loved what I have heard. I've heard that her daughter, Bekka Bramlett, is quite talented as well.

I can think of no other singer with a more beautiful voice than Karen Carpenter! She sung with such feeling. How I miss her!:(


My fave Carpenters song is Only Yesterday. I also love Superstar.

Yeah, I'm not familiar with her career, but I heard about her through one of my online friends. My friend just released her first CD and one of the songs on it is co-written by Bekka. She said she listened to many demos of songs recorded by Bekka and they were amazing.

I just heard a very bad remake of "Merry Christmas Darling" by. . . Celine Dion? What the :censored: was that :censored: :censored:'in thinking? :mad:
