I think the pictures from the opener are some that the creators came accross. They give the show that compforting feel right in the beginning. I really dont know though ha.

I'm almost positive that some of the pictures were made specifically for the show.

The picture of Truman with the newspaper is a famous photograph. The pictures that correspond to the performers were well chosen as they relate in some way to the characters. The ones of Frasier and Lilith may indeed have been made specifically for the series. The one of Woody is really uncannily like Woody Harelson. Funny that they never had a picture for Sam Malone.

They certainly did. The mustached bartender was used, from season six on.

no one seems to know where any of them came from.
the verse half of the theme had drawings...obviously, the cheers exterior ones were created specifically for the show. i assume that the interior drawings were too. this goes for the logo pic too, as well as the Starring/Ted Danson/Shelley Long drawing

all of the actual photos (starting w/ the cast pics, except for Ted and Shelley in seasons 1-5), I personally think, are from some archive somewhere of turn-of-the-century pics. i dont think any of them were taken specifically for the show.

Awhile ago I won all of the opening prints off ebay. Each of em are 11x14 and they came in this really cool portfolio. They are just the pictures though, not the casts names. i think one day I'll have to frame all of em and hang em up.

The prints I'm pretty sure were released by paramount as a final idea of what the opening shots will be. They are 11x14 and come in this big portfolio with a nice big cheers logo on it. Has the company name and stuff too. I posted them awhile back, I'll see if i can find the thread.....

It always bothered me that George Wendt didn't have his own individual one, they just used 2 over his instead of "his own one" like the others.

The pictures, done by Castle/Bryant Motion Designs, were pics of bars from the late 19th to early 20th century. Woody's pic was actually a butcher place. The pic after Ted's and Shelley's pic was a barbershop.

I wonder if there's any way to identify WHO these folks were in the vintage photos? I mean Woody and Lillith's doppelgangers especially were downright uncanny in capturing their performers' characters' countenances ! The producers must have spent zillions of hours pouring over scrapbooks, microfilm, etc.

The few real pictures are taken at my family bar, still thriving and in operation, The Legendary Silver Dollar Saloon Leadville, CO
