. . . shouldn't Nick at Nite air classic shows from the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's to kind of like "balance" it out? What's your opinion about this?

View Full Version : If TV Land can air "Modern TV Classics", then . . . LucyFan 05-03-2004, 08:28 PM . . . shouldn't Nick at Nite air classic shows from the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's to kind of like "balance" it out? What's your opinion about this? FamilyTiesGOP 05-03-2004, 08:46 PM How thick are you? 23 hours a day on TV Land is devoted to the shows that you mention. N@N is a 9 hour network. Get over it. You really need to just let it go and embrace Cheers and Family Ties. And in case you haven't noticed, Family Ties is a classic that no longer fits in with N@N new lineup of Who's the Boss, Full House, Roseanne (the latter two mostly 90s), and soon Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (90s). N@N is going 90s on us and TV Land is accomodating 50s-80s shows now. Family Ties Forever! 05-03-2004, 09:28 PM LucyFan, You're just upset because you don't want to admit that FT and Chers are classic tv. Like FamilyTiesGOP pointed out TVLand allows 23 hours a day for really old shows, how much more can you expect? No network is perfect for heaven's sake. Do you really think N@N would honestly air old shows and ditch TCS? You probably would have better chances of winning the lottery than that happening. If TVLand upsets you so much, don't watch it then, it's that simple. Czas na Zywiec 05-03-2004, 09:40 PM Oh good God, get over it. You don't like Family Ties. Big deal. I don't like people who constantly go on and on about a particular subject, but I can't really do anything about it. I still go on with my life. This is a waste of board space. Argue in one thread or take it to PMs. This is just getting old. :o PZelda 05-03-2004, 09:52 PM Originally posted by FamilyTiesGOP How thick are you? 23 hours a day on TV Land is devoted to the shows that you mention. Do you really think it's fair that N@N only airs 9 hours a night, yet TVL gets to air 23 hours a day? It is an 80's show despite the fact that it ended in 1992. I would much rather have Family Ties and Who's The Boss than The Cosby Show or The Fresh Prince. But NAN never listens to me! I consider that a good long time. As time goes by, the shows that are classified as classics must expand. Simple as that. The culture was significanly different in the 80s and it is considered its own era. I for one look back and long for the 80s again. AKA 05-04-2004, 12:51 AM Yep. And remember, folks, Cheers and Family Ties are now just as old as My Three Sons and Bewitched were when Nick At Nite began airing them. PZelda 05-04-2004, 01:05 AM Originally posted by AKA Yep. My Three Sons 1985 - 1960 = 25 years Bewitched 1985 - 1964 = 21 years Cheers & Family Ties 2004 - 1982 = 22 years There you have it, folks. Dean Winchester 05-04-2004, 02:18 AM isn't Three's Company technically a "modern tv classic"? It ran on longer in the 80's than 70's. I am willing to bet there were some "60's supremicists" who were really ticked off when Mary Tyler Moore, Happy Days and Taxi came onto N@N in the mid-90's. Taxi coming on N@N in 1994 isn't that much different than Roseanne or Full House on N@N in 2004. The difference between the beginning of Taxi, and the beginning of Cheers and Family Ties was 4 years. What changed so much between 1978 and 1982 to make one classic and the other not? Brent88 05-04-2004, 11:04 AM Originally posted by Miss Vicki EXACTLY!!!!! As of May 10, Three's Company will replace Family Ties & Cheers. Maybe now he'll shut up and stop bashing FT. Luckily, FT will still air, but it's going to be on much later unfortunately at 1 & 1:30AM Eastern Time Monday-Thursday. So on Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's Family Ties will not air. Same goes for Cheers. Dean Winchester 05-04-2004, 01:49 PM Originally posted by Jen1989 Well, unfortunately, LucyFan has gotten what he wants. I'm perfectly content with what shows I like and which shows I hate instead of going over to a Raymond board, or a Home Improvement board just to spew "this show sucks!!!! why do people like it? They shouldn't release it on DVD because I think it sucks". Get a grip! Czas na Zywiec 05-04-2004, 02:00 PM Originally posted by Jen1989 Well, unfortunately, LucyFan has gotten what he wants. I was ready to get back to my tv at home (I took it home a few weeks ago so I'd have a lighter load whe I move out of the dorms) and I was looking forward to getting back to Family Ties and Cheers. It's great that Three's Company is back, because I was wanting to see it too, but why in that time slot?!? I won't get Family Ties until 2am now... That doesn't really work out for me though. I'm in Colorado, so my area gets the east coast feed of N@N while we get the west coast feed of TVLand. So 1AM on N@N is 11PM here, while 1AM on TVLand is 2AM. Most of our channels are the east coast feed, we just have like 4 or 5 that are from the west coast.
