ditto.
Ewan's My Man 05-03-2004, 09:57 PM the most overplayed song of all time is officially Soak Up the Sun, I don't care what anyone else has to say, that is official
Jrnygrl 05-03-2004, 10:36 PM Even though I am a Journey fan I would not lose any sleep if I never hear "Open Arms" again.:eek2: :nonono: puke: puke: :faint: :wallbang
Hollow 05-03-2004, 10:52 PM haha. i dont watch mtv or listen to mainstream music stations anymore so i dont even know what they play. i just listen to my cd's and music downloads nowadays.
diezman 05-04-2004, 12:34 AM Stairway to Heaven - I love Led Zeppelin but AOR stations need to put this one on the shelf for a few years
Old Time Rock n Roll - Big fan of Bob Seger here but this song makes me want to vomit! I can't understand what the big deal is with this song. I know people who go out of control when this lame song is played
Sweet Home Alabama - For God's sake! Lynyrd Skynyrd put out sooo many cool songs! Why in the hell do radio stations have to drill this one in our heads at least 50 times a day??????
SBTB Geek 05-04-2004, 03:19 AM "Ocean Avenue"- Yellowcard
"Maps"- Yeah Yeah Yeahs
"Burn"- Usher
"All Falls Down"- Kanye West
"So Fly"- NB Ridaz
"Wanna Get to Know You"- G-Unit
"I Don't Wanna Know"- Mario Winans
"Freek a Leek"- Petey Pablo
"Splash Waterfalls"- Ludacris
The last two songs have to be some of the most indecent songs I ever heard on radio- it's shocking to know that Clear Channel stations still plays those two songs but don't play Howard Stern in six stations. Another overplayed song is "Overdrive" by Katy Rose, but I didn't list it because it's only overplayed because of the "Mean Girls" ads, the full song is never played.
Mr. Stefani 05-04-2004, 04:04 PM Yeah.. I almost got into an accident today because of that ****. All copies of that song need to be destroyed.
Dean Winchester 05-04-2004, 04:56 PM Usher's heading for a premature burnout, he keeps releasing single after single when the FIRST SINGLE hasn't yet run it's course, much less Burn hasn't even peaked yet, yet the third single is already out? This is not the early 1960's when the Beatles had 15 songs out at once on the chart.
Yes, Outkast had 2 songs out at the same time when the first hadn't yet peaked but the difference is that The Way You Move and Hey Ya were different, one was Andre's and the others was Big Boi's. And even then, it took about 5 months to release Roses because they waited until Hey Ya and The Way You Move had peaked before milking another single off the album. Whereas Yeah came out about 4 months ago and is still #1, yet Usher's already released 2 songs since
SBTB Geek 05-04-2004, 11:22 PM ^I don't blame him for releasing all those singles so rapidly, if I was him I would of been doing the same thing as well. You have to give it to the fans while it's still hot.
So far, I've liked all his singles, his new one, "Confessions Pt. II" is the best new song on radio right now.

Boyz II Men have basically been blacklisted by radio because they did the same thing 10 years ago, and people got so sick of them for having 3 singles out at once that they were old news by the time the next album came out, and their last 2 albums didn't score even minor hits. People still remember how sick they were of them from late 94 to early 96 that they haven't been able to catch a break since.
Whatever happened to the day you release a single AFTER the previous one is starting to fall? Yeah is still at #1, and Burn is still climbing, people are going to get so sick of Usher if he doesn't go 6 months before releasing the next single.

I was thinking the same thing. But maybe he's trying to have 3 singles in the top 10 at once, like Ashanti did back in 2002.

that's true, but even then. Ashanti was shoved in your face so much 2 years ago that it's worked against her. Ever since Beyonce's solo album came out (and Beyonce has been able to wait until one single peaks and begins to fall before issuing the next... and her album has done very well and has sold consistantly, and the only people sick of her were those who didn't like Crazy In Love anyways), Ashanti's really taken a hit and has plummeted considerably. There was a point where Ashanti was just too overexposed and now she's backlashed (Chapter 2 spent about as long on the Billboard top 200 as her debut spent in the top 20) as a result of it... as well as the fact that Ashanti was really overhyped by her label ("Princess of R&B"??? so many others more worthy of the title than her) and she wasn't that talented anyways.
SBTB Geek 05-07-2004, 02:04 AM I don't think Boyz II Men's failure should be blamed on overexposure or exessive (sp?) single releasing, the fact is that their work eventually became crappy overall.
Having multiple songs playing on the radio isn't hurting Confessions at all... the album has already reached 3x platinum status, getting close to outselling Justified, Dangerously In Love, and Stripped, all in such a short period of time... it has already outsold In The Zone.
Steve Carras 08-09-2004, 01:01 AM While I've always like d Gary GLitter's ROCK AND ROLL pt.2 (putting the allegations aside), some may feel it's overplayed at sports games..and in movies (SUGAR AND SPICE< HAPPY GILMORE,etc.) dealing with sporets, I still love the tune, downlaoded it off of WInMXC.
Hey hey HEEEY hey..and I still have a soft spot for STAIRWAY by Led Zep even though many fel it played too much (WAYNE'S WORLD had a gag about this).
katiekat 08-09-2004, 01:09 PM I still cannot listen to My Heart Will Go On. Although I like Alicia Keys, but Fallin' and lately If I Ain't Got You...
Anything Beyonce (and now Usher) does is overdone... I liked her singles, but with the radio playing it way too many times... I don't even want her album. It's smart to capitalize on your success, but don't go overboard. If both of them disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn't miss them.
I'm just plain tired of rap... and these rap/singing collaborations. I'm not much of a fan of that type of music. Some I like, but most I don't. Am I the only one?

me too. I've never been a huge fan of rap, but it was much better back in the days before it was the end-all, be-all of music. It's gotten too big for it's britches.
Hollow 08-09-2004, 10:38 PM the reason - hoobastank is the only one i really know so haha.

I'm the same way...I like Eminem and Outkast...that's about it...
And I like Beyonce, but she isn't really rap...

It is not just "Stairway To Heaven", Led Zeppelin IV overall is played far too much. Even though I am a huge Zeppelin fan I never even listen to IV anymore because songs like "Stairway", "Black Dog" and "Rock And Roll" have gotten so over played that I don't need to hear them anymore. Of course, I've never understood how IV is considered the band's best album to begin with. I'll take Houses Of The Holy and Led Zeppelin II over it anyday.
Ohio8 08-10-2004, 09:11 PM Blue Oyster Cult: "(Don't Fear) the Reaper." Cream: :Sunshine of Your Love." "White Room." "Crossroads." Derek and the Dominoes: "Layla." What, don't rock radio stations buy box sets and truly good compilations?
Celestia 08-20-2004, 09:14 PM OMG! If I listen to "My Imortal" by Evanesceance ONE MORE TIME!!!! Honestly, I turn on the radio anytime and I hear, "Aaaaaaaallllllllllll of meeeeeeeeeee" I just turn it back off again. The song depresses me so much. Bring Me to Life was almost over played but My Imortal was over played big time.
