Janice 05-02-2004, 01:58 PM Do you like them? If so, which ones? Any favorite rides?
Do you hate them?
I used to love them when I was younger, but I wouldn't get on a ride now if someone paid me. A couple of days ago, this poor guy died after falling out of a roller coaster at a Massachusetts Six Flags.
AnaheimPMWitch 05-02-2004, 02:02 PM I like them (well mainly the Disney ones) but i'm not into Roller coasters and rides like that I'm more into the Kiddie rides (so what if i'm 31 and to old for them *giggles*) and I LOVEEEE Water rides (eventhough i'm terrified of Water GO FIGURE)
Dutabi84 05-02-2004, 02:02 PM No thanks.
Something about goint on a 2 minute ride to experience 5 g's forced on your body just doesn't seem very appealing.
MaydayMalonesGirl 05-02-2004, 02:11 PM Wildwood NJ has a cool little amusement park on the boardwalk... I go there atleast twice every summer. They have a few big rollarcoasters, and a waterpark. Plus, it's right on the beach.. so it's cool.

Someone died going on a roller coaster? How old was he? Is there a link that has a story about it?
Ok, back to your question.
I like some of the rides. My favorites are probably the roller coaster (which can be freaky alot, but fun), and I like the ferris wheel.
Janice 05-02-2004, 02:42 PM Man Dies After Fall From Roller Coaster
AGAWAM, Mass. (May 2) - A 55-year-old man with cerebral palsy died Saturday when he fell out of a roller coaster at an amusement park, according to park officials and a newspaper report.
Stanley J. Mordarsky of Bloomfield, Conn., fell out of the Superman Ride of Steel roller coaster as it was approaching the end of its run at the Six Flags New England amusement park, park officials said.
"All of a sudden people started screaming, 'Stop the ride, stop the ride,' someone has fallen off,'' eyewitness Sara Syez told WHDH-TV in Boston.
"They finally stopped the ride and it was extreme panic and we looked and all the people in the cars were crying ... and we looked over to the side and there was a gentleman laying by the fence.''
Mordarsky was pronounced dead 45 minutes later at a local hospital, the park said.
The victim's 82-year-old mother, Germaine Mordarsky, told The Hartford Courant her son had cerebral palsy and used a scooter for transportation. She said her son liked to visit the park 90 miles west of Boston two or three times a year.
"I can't understand why they would let him on a ride like that in the first place. He was so sickly and handicapped. I just can't believe it,'' she said.
Park spokeswoman Mary Ann Burns said there are ride requirements to ensure safety, and guidelines for the disabled, The Courant reported. She would not comment further.
The ride was closed immediately and park officials, police and the state are investigating. It was not known late Saturday what caused the accident.
Park officials said the roller coaster had been inspected Saturday morning and was certified for operation by state certified inspectors before the park's season opening on April 17.

TVFactFan 05-02-2004, 02:55 PM That's why I never liked roller coasters. They are dangerous and i will never ride them. The only ride I like and will ride over and over is the SEA DRAGON. It's the boat that rocks back and forth.

I LOVE the dragon ride!
Brent88 05-02-2004, 02:59 PM I'm not a big roller coaster fan either. I did ride on the Batman one time at Six Flags over Georgia in Atlanta, but I won't do that again. It goes upside down! I was scared to death I was going to fall! I could feel my shoes almost fall too(they loosened up).
They have bigger rides than that now, including the Superman(or Spiderman can't remember which) where your upside down the ENTIRE time. No thank you. :eek2:

ESPECIALLY when your going 60 mph and if you fall your dead.
Yet, I love flying. There your going 600 mph 7 miles above the earth. Go figure, LOL!
Mijada 05-02-2004, 03:09 PM I love amusement parks but I'm not into roller coasters and any of those other big rides anymore. I did enjoy Space Mountain at Disney World though. I prefer just being thre with people I care about and enjoying the day strolling around looking in the different shops.
Darkweaver 05-02-2004, 03:16 PM I like theme parks, i.e. Disneyland, Universal, Islands Of Adventure, etc. I really enjoy the motion simulator movie rides like Race For Atlantis, In Search Of The Obelisk or Star Tours. I love dark rides as well, especially the Haunted Mansion and Indiana Jones & The Temple Of The Forbidden Eye at Disneyland.
G-Force Glockstar 05-02-2004, 03:18 PM What park has had the most people injuried or killed?
I wanna know, so I don't go to those parks. I know it sounds kinda scardy catty, but oh well.
I like to go to Fun Spot Park, and a few other ones.
I've been to Disney Land once when I was about 7 years old, and I really liked that one!

That's sad. I used to go Riverside. I never went when it became Six Flags cause of the long lines.
barwars 05-02-2004, 03:57 PM I LOVE amusement parks.

Dying on a roller coaster.... hmm....

I don't know if this one has had the most deaths, but they DO have the most talked-about deaths- Disneyland...Yeah.
Anyway, I LOVE going to Valleyfair. It's an amusement park near Minneapolis, in a suburb called Shakopee (I think). My faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave rides in the world from there are the Wild Thing, Steel Venom (opened in May 2003) and the Corkscrew. The last time I was there, I think I rode Wild Thing three times. Time before last, seven. :D
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE roller coasters! Esp. the ones that turn you upside down and the ones where your feet dangle (altho it's a pain in the ass trying to get on it :o). The only thing I'm not too wild about is the wooden rollercoasters. They aren't as exciting, and Valleyfair has a metal rollercoaster that I HATE called Excalibur (I think). It just scares me! Otherwise, I've never met a roller coaster I didn't immediately love :D
FamilyTiesGOP 05-02-2004, 06:20 PM I don't really like amusement parks. I don't like the rides and I don't like being hot.
I live about 1 hour and half from two parks: Paramount's Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I hate Kings Dominion, but would go to Busch Gardens because it is more like a little town with all the countries and stuff and it has a lot more shade.
Brian 05-02-2004, 06:20 PM I love to go to Disneyland. I have gone there about a half-dozen or more times in my lifetime. I went there twice last year, once for Grad Nite and once for a birthday on December 8. I'm planning on going there next year, when it will be the park's 50th anniversary and Space Mountain is finished with its renovation.
My favorite rides are the Matterhorn, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Star Tours, Indiana Jones, and Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain got me interested in the old Disney film "Song of the South." The characters in the ride are taken from the animated sequences from the movie. I wish they would release that film, it has never been released on VHS or DVD in the U.S. The last time it was released here was in 1986, the movie's 40th anniversary.
There are more than just rides that I like. I like the restaurants and this area where you could watch old Mickey Mouse cartoons.
From experience, the best time to come to Disneyland is during the fall and winter and on a weekday. There aren't so much people there at that time. When I went in December, my mother and I got there at 9:00 AM and finished all the major attractions at 2:00.
I've been to Disneyworld a bunch of times, although for some reason I don't consider it an "amusement park," since there is also Epcot, MGM Sutdios, etc.
Love the Tower Of Terror, though.
I've been to Six Flags Great Adventure, but not for a while, and they have some fun rides.
I was at Busch Gardens in Tampa a few years ago and they have some great coasters. The Montu is an amazing ride.
Las Vegas has some great rides too. Try the coaster in New York New York and the one on top of the Stratosphere.
For the Sci Fi fans, there is the Star Trek ride. That's lots of fun.
;)
SOCCERGIRL555 05-05-2004, 04:36 PM I love amusement parks and roller coasters they are so fun!!
My favorite theme park is six flags. My favorite ride there is super man it is so fast.
:bouncers
David 05-06-2004, 06:05 PM i love amusement parks. I just hate the huge prices, huge lines. i dont like rollercoasters much.
but i love going to amusement parks, they're fun!! Disney World, fun stuff. :D
Hollow 05-06-2004, 06:25 PM the only one i've really been to is disneyland.. it was fun. i also like carnival rides like the hanglider and the zipper. i hate roller coasters. meh.
Blair_Warner02 05-06-2004, 07:16 PM Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH (Roller Coaster Capital of the World) that's the only one I've been to.
A few years ago they made a roller coaster called Millennium Force that was the tallest fastest roller coaster in the world (I think Cedar Point has another now that is taller and faster) I remember I didn't ride it, my mom and sister did though they had to wait in line for hours. It goes upside down and I can't handle upside down rides or I'm almost guaranteed a nosebleed.
This guy was knocked unconsious while riding the roller coaster by a bird that flew into his face the bird was dead in his lap and he was unconsious when the ride stopped.
I heard that Cedar Point's carousel is haunted and it has something to do with the one black horse that is on it. Basically the horses change positions after the park closes and the carousel will run backwards.

I heard about the time that a bird flew into Fabio's face when he was on a rollercoaster (I found a pic of it). The story is, he was on the Appolo's Chariot rollercoaster at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA, in March 1999 when a bird flew into his face and basically exploded blood all over him...He didn't get knocked out, though. But wow. I didn't know you could be knocked unconscious...
Here's the news article, dated March 31, 1999...

MandieR1980 05-06-2004, 10:57 PM I grew up going to King's Castle Land in Whitman Massachusetts. I was sad when it closed in 94 and they kept the castle up for YEARS and then I was heartbroken to learn that they knocked it down and put in a Super Stop & Shop.
That place was my childhood and now it's gone :(
I wish I had a picture of the castle
dandelion wine 05-07-2004, 12:32 AM I love, love, love going to the amusement parks every summer and as far as those rides go: The scarier, the better. :woohoo:
Six Flags Astroworld is a fun place to hang out, even though it's insane with a million people every where and the humidity. Lot more fun to go there in the Fall, plus you have the Halloween festivities. I've also been to Six Flags St. Louis and that was a blast. Would love to go there again.
Michael [hXc] 05-07-2004, 10:12 PM My aunt's been trying to get me to go to an amusement park with her sometime, but it's so expensive, even for her.
EmoJoe 07-05-2004, 01:22 PM I like roller coasters as long as they dont go upside down. But im a rides freak. I love rides! :eyes:  :yippee:
phoebe7165 07-05-2004, 04:04 PM I love amusement parks, especially roller coasters!! Just because some people have died from falling out of roller coasters, never ever made me fearful of riding them. It's like saying I'm never going to fly in an airplane because of a recent plane crash. Think of the 1000's of planes that fly in & out of airports safely everyday. You have a much more chance of getting killed in a car accident driving your own personal vehicle. I figure when it's my time to go, then so be it.
My favorites are any Six Flags park, Busch Gardens in Virginia & Fla. I would love to go to Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH, and Kennywood in Pittsburgh one of these days.
I live about an hour from the Disney parks and I still love The Tower of Terror at Disney-MGM Studios. For those not familiar with this, you sit in a big elevator, get lifted up 13 floors and it freefalls to the bottom. It first started out as only 1 drop, now it's 4 drops, up & down 4 times. MGM also has The Aerosmith Rock & Rollercoaster. It's an inside the building coaster and it immediately bolts out of the station and speeds through the building. It's pretty cool.
One ride I could never handle was the flying saucer, where you go inside, the flying saucer spins around and you get pinned to the wall. That totally turns my stomach.
JDS84 07-05-2004, 05:08 PM My favorite Amusement Parks are Kings Island, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, and Cedar Point.
EmoJoe 07-05-2004, 05:17 PM I like Six Flags and Hershey Park (which is why ill be gone August 9th-14th.)
Boardwalks are fun too
Fleet 07-05-2004, 11:30 PM My favorites:
Disneyland's Pirates of the Carribean and the Haunted Mansion.
I don't like those extreme rollar-coaster rides because they make me nauseous- but I did like Disney's old Matterhorn ride.
My family's planning to go to Michigan's Adventure on the 19th. I can't wait.:D

The millenium force is awesome.
I haven't ridden the Top Thrill Dragster yet but its 420 feet tall and goes 120 MPH.

Hawkee 03-11-2024, 01:49 AM When I was a little girl I used to enjoy Disneyland and my family would take trips to Disneyland almost every fall and I used to love going on the rides and shopping there and meeting the characters there as well. My mom and I used to ride the ferris wheel together and I loved it especially when it would go up high but once when I was at Six Flags with my godfather my mom and I decided to ride the ferris wheel there when the ride was going and my dad and godfather were trying to take a home movie of me and Mom riding the ferris wheel but the ride went so fast they couldn't even film us and my dad and godfather were panicking because he thought Mom and I had gotten kidnapped but then Dad found us and it was funny
Dead2009 03-11-2024, 05:35 PM I love theme parks. Disney World, Kings Dominion and Hersheypark are just some of my favorite parks. Favorite ride is Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom.
Dude111 03-12-2024, 01:10 AM Maybe thats what I went on,I cant remember....... It was inside a dark room (Like the inside of a mountain)
Caroline13 03-14-2024, 03:09 PM My first visit to Disneyland was in 1957 and the admission was a fraction of what admission prices are today...How in the H do families take their children, they have to hawk themselves and go in CC debt....or NOT Go....
