View Full Version : Bed sheets
dawsongirl 05-02-2004, 01:55 AM I'm surfing looking for decent priced sheets (this is my Sat. night, folks  ) and I keep getting hits for silk and sateen sheets.
Does anyone actually like sleeping on silk or sateen sheets? Maybe I'm weird, but I'd much rather have regular cotton sheets.
Dutabi84 05-02-2004, 02:00 AM Hmm. If sateen is the same as satin, yeah I like it. Nice smooth feel to it.

I think they're close enough to be the same.
Georgia's on my Mind 05-02-2004, 02:09 AM i prefer cotton, also.
PZelda 05-02-2004, 02:14 AM Ehhhhh. No, I don't like silk sheets. :o Cotton =
Janice 05-02-2004, 02:17 AM I don't like satin sheets. The pillows are slippery on them, and the sheets slide all over the place. I buy my sheets at Bed & Bath. I like cotton ones. You want to check the thread count when buying sheets....nothing less than 300. They'll last a long time and won't shrink.
I like flannel sheets in the winter.
Cashodeen 05-02-2004, 02:20 AM I've never slept on satin sheets a day in my life. I doubt I ever would. I always have flannel.
dandelion wine 05-02-2004, 02:25 AM Cotton sheets are the way to go! And even though it doesn't get anywhere near as cold down here as it does up North, I love flannels in the winter.
dawsongirl 05-02-2004, 02:39 AM Anyone know anywhere online to look for cheaper sheets? 300 count ones around here are like $70 a set. I looked at overstock.com and they mostly had sateen and duvet covers.

You can go to www.walmart.com and do a search or www.target.com or(not sure if that last store has a site). I know you can get sheets cheaper at Wal-Mart anyway.
I love cotton. It's not in the pain in the tail to put up with and it stays on the bed.
FamilyTiesGOP 05-02-2004, 12:06 PM Egyptian Cotton sheets are really nice too. My mom really likes those. We usually get our sheets at JCPenney, but last time I needed some my mom got them from the Martha Stewart line. They are very nice.
Ahhh, nothing like the feel of pure sateen sheets...
I have them on my revolving bed. They look great with my leopard print beadspread.
Let's not forget my velvet pillows! Oh, don't get me started on the velvet pillows!
;)

You know, I would drape my self in velvet if it were socially acceptable.
Mijada 05-02-2004, 01:20 PM I use flannel in the wintertime and cotton in summer. I buy them at WalMart or Bed Bath and Beyond whenever they have a good sale.

Haha, yep. Didn't take too long for someone to catch that. :)

That reminds me of that one quote from the Martha Stewert movie where she's having that tamtrum in K-Mart...

 That was really funny. Martha was like these sheets will not do. And proceeded to just take everything over.

OMG...are you stuck in the 70's, too?? Polyester sheets make you feel like you're sleeping in a microwave. Your bed gets oh so hot....and not for the right reasons! :D
