The episode featuring Barbara Barrie, formerly of Barney Miller, was very powerful dealing with the elderly dealing with memory loss and the horrible disease of Alzheimer´s disease. It was dealt with in an honest manner. Meredith's performance in that episode was explosive especially when she reenacted the story of her family's history. One of my favorite episodes.

I liked that episode too. It was sad, but well done, as most Family Ties serious episodes are.
