I actually don't live very far from Danville, and have been there and taken the unofficial tour. It's a quaint little farming community, miles and miles away from the bright lights of Chicago, although bigger now than it was in Dick's youth. But supposedly, it hasn't changed very much.

It's a nice town. Out of the way, though. I live less than 30 min from downtown Chicago, and Danville is yet another 2 hours further than I.

I was in Iowa recently doing genealogical research. As I passed through Illinois I saw the sign for "Danville" and thought, I have GOT to stop on my way back. So when I got to Iowa I called the Danville Chamber of Commerce and they said there is nothing in Danville to honor DVD except a "brick" at the high school he attended. I told them they were crazy to pass up an opportunity to bring revenue into Danville by ignoring their favorite son!

there was a nice article on dick and his visit to danville in my autograph mag. this month everyone there said he was super nice and autographed whatever was put in front of him
