Dean Winchester 04-29-2004, 11:37 PM The Cosby Show - 6/10. I used to love this show, I still like a lot of the Denise-centered episodes, but for the most part, N@N and TBS and co. have run this show to the ground to where it's just not entertaing anymore.
The Facts of Life - 10/10. My most wanted sitcom on DVD that hasn't been announced yet.
The Nanny. 3/10. She's funny but her voice in large doses annoys me.
C.S.I. 4/10. If you've seen one episode, you've seen them all
Designing Women. 3/10. I am in a minority for not being wild about them, always saw them as a poor mans Golden Girls.
Murder She Wrote. 5/10. It was okay but nothing special.
Sister, Sister. 2/10. The Olsen Twins that didn't get overexposed.
Full House. 5/10. It is easy to bash this show, but truth be told, if there's nothing else on, I sometimes find myself watching it. It's a cute show, but it's definately not a classic.
Saved by the Bell:the College Years. Never saw it.

The Facts of Life - 8/10 - Another pretty good sitcom.

barwars 04-30-2004, 06:12 PM The Cosby Show -- 9/10
An ALMOST perfect sitcom IMO
The Facts of Life -- 9/10
Like TCS, if it werent for the final season, it would be a 10.
The Nanny -- 2/10
Her voice annoys me, but its not the WORST show ever
C.S.I. -- 4/10
Interesting occassionally, but its very hit-or-miss, and most the time, I see the "misses"
Designing Women -- 3/10
"The poor man's Golden Girls" - BuffySlayer79.
I couldnt have said it better myself
Murder She Wrote -- NA
Never seen it (unless Im thinking right and this IS the Angela Lansbury show.... 2/10)
Sister, Sister -- 4/10
Its enjoyable, but only when they're younger. (which is the complete opposite of my first opinion)
Full House - 6/10
NO person on the face of this earth can HONESTLY say that this was the smartest, or best written sitcom ever. But, its fun -- and I still enjoy it.
Saved by the Bell: The College Years -- 6/10
Proof that SBTB is NOTHING without Mr. Belding, but its still enjoyable, and much better than "the new class"
EmoJoe 04-30-2004, 09:54 PM The Cosby Show

How old are you??
I could understand if you just said it was the best sitcom ever.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
But I defy anyone to HONESTLY say that its the best WRITTEN sitcom ever.
Best ever.... whatever floats your boat.
Best written.... only if you're crazy.

Thanks, Jen1989! I appreciate that!:)

I never said FH was a bad show, I like it in fact.
And I never said liking it meant you were crazy -- because if you read my original post, I said I liked.
I also never said it was the worst written show -- but its not the best written either.
And about TCS, its not written good either. Half the time its just Cosby goofing off -- which is why I like it. I never said it had good writing, because it really doesnt.
Both FH and TCS arent very well WRITTEN shows.
Doesnt mean they're bad.
Doesnt mean they're good.
Just means the writing isnt the greatest ever.
Full House had catch phrases.
And TCS had "pyschical" comedy (Cosby's face is pyschical enough)
And shows with catch phrases and pyshical comedy may be the best shows ever -- but it doesnt mean the writing is any good.
Whereas your favorite show, Family Ties, had great writing -- I wont lie. The acting and characters were good too. Its one of my favorites.
I think both shows lived because of the acting.
The characters and the writing werent all that great -- but the actors made up for it.

I thought that the above statement was indicating that you were saying that if someone thought that Full House was the best written then they were crazy. Perhaps the way you worded it would lead someone to think that's what you meant. What did you mean by that statement? Just so that we all understand.

I didn't say that you said that by liking FH a person is crazy. What I said was that you said by thinking it was the best written that a person is crazy.
If you never said that, then I'm sorry. I don't want to argue, and we've called a truce which is good. I just want to understand where you're coming from with what you are saying.
What I meant to say was that its crazy to believe Full House is the best written show ever.
Best show ever -- sure, thats your opinion.
But saying its the best written show is kind of crazy.
Doesnt mean the person is crazy, just a crazy idea.
Just like with me and TCS, It'd be stupid if I said it was the best written sitcom ever.
Hell -- its not even the best sitcom period.

Thats exactly what I was trying to say.
The writing isnt all that great -- but it doesnt mean the show is trash.

off the top of my head....
The Dick Van Dyke Show
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Cheers
Seinfeld
Frasier (more awards than any show ever)
M*A*S*H
Taxi
A show with good writing doesnt have catch phrases -- Full House does.

I dont really like most of these shows, the only one I like is Taxi. Oh well I guess I like bad written shows LOL.
PZelda 05-02-2004, 10:39 AM The Cosby Show - 0/10 - I'd rather hear fingernails scratch across a chalkboard than watch this show AGAIN so I don't watch.
The Facts of Life - Never seen :crying:
The Nanny - 10/10 - this show has me in hysterics!!!
C.S.I. - Sorry, I don't follow dramas - don't watch
Designing Women - 10/10 :D
Murder She Wrote - 9/10 - My mom LOVED this show when I was a little girl, so she passed it on to me, so I love this show. It's soooo cool :D
Sister, Sister - 0/10 - ANNOYING.
Full House - 8.5/10 (Closet FH fan...)
Saved by the Bell:the College Years - 6/10, it's really not that good =/
FamilyTiesGOP 05-02-2004, 01:28 PM The Cosby Show: 0/10
The Facts of Life: 0/10
The Nanny: 5/10
C.S.I.: Don't watch
Designing Women: 10/10
Murder She Wrote: Don't watch, but was good the few times I saw it, 7/10
Sister, Sister: 0/10, too juvenile for me.
Full House: 0/10
Saved by the Bell:the College Years, 6/10 (haven't seen hardly any, but the regular Saved by the Bell is ok)
And to weigh in on the Full House writing debate, FH could be in the running for the worst writing of a comedy series.

1. 7/10 - average. The Cosby Show isn't that entertaining to me and I find the theme to be quite annoying on top of that.
2. 0/10 - horrible. This destructive show is what caused my once beloved N@N to form into some modern tv network. With that said, TFOL is one horrible show in my eyes.
3. 0/10 - horrible. I don't fully understand why some fans of The Nanny claim this is the "I Love Lucy" of the 1990's. I sincerely don't believe it's true and I find that assumption to be an insult.
4. 7/10 - average
5. 5/10 - haven't seen it
6. 0/10 - don't care for it
7. 8/10 - good
8. 8/10 - good
9. 7/10 - average
ONJMagic 05-03-2004, 08:58 PM The Cosby Show - 5/10 (Loved it as a kid, it annoys me now)
The Facts of Life - 5/10
The Nanny - 7/10 (I like it, but it's a show I have to be in the mood for)
C.S.I. - Never seen it
Designing Women - 7/10 (same as The Nanny)
Murder She Wrote - Haven't seen enough to rate
Sister, Sister - Never seen
Full House - 7/10 (Liked it when it originally aired, then outgrew it. But I'm finding myself liking it more now that it's on NAN)
Saved by the Bell:the College Years - 5/10 (The original was better)
dandelion wine 01-07-2005, 06:50 AM The Cosby Show - 6
The Facts of Life - 8
The Nanny - 5
C.S.I. - 10
Designing Women - 5
Murder She Wrote - I remember when this one debuted and in all honesty, I never ever liked it. It gets a 1.
Sister, Sister - 2
Full House - 4
Saved by the Bell:the College Years - 2
Heather987 01-12-2005, 04:30 AM The Cosby Show - 1/10 I can tolerate the show before Cousin Pam and Olivia joined the cast, but am getting to the point that I hate it since it is on any given channel at any given time
The Facts of Life - 5/10 I think I like it, been a long time since I watched it...When they were at Eastland it was the best time of the shows run
The Nanny - 5/10 Just started to watch a few episodes seems okay
C.S.I. - 8/10 well not actually a sitcom more of a drama, but I like it even though it is not true to forensics
Designing Women - 1/10 well when I am 60 maybe it will be entertaining
Murder She Wrote - 1/10 watched 10 minutes of this show once, so boring I never tuned in again to see it
Sister, Sister - 1/10 Was this supposed to be entertainment or torture
Full House - 3/10 I only give this 3 since at 4am when it is on, I can count on it to be a sleeping aid for me
Saved by the Bell:the College Years - 2/10 dont know if the college or junior high years are the worst. I got used to the Lisa and Jessie characters that watching slater date someone else just didnt seem all that interesting and the new girls they added were just dumb and boring
Belair 01-12-2005, 07:31 AM The Cosby Show-9/10-but only in the very early episodes.I didn't enjoy the show as much as it kept going. When Rudy and Theo lost their cuteness,i lost interest.
The Facts of Life-7/10-it was an ok show, but not on my favourites list.
The Nanny-10/10-love it.
C.S.I-Never seen an episode.
Designing Women-4/10-couldn't stand it.
Murder She Wrote-5/10,not too bad,i'll only watch if there's absolutely nothing else on tv at the time, but with about 50 channels (ahh i love cable tv!) there's usually something better on.
Sister, Sister-2/10
Full House-8/10
Saved by the Bell:the College Years-7/10-not as good as the original saved by the bell, but still a good show.
jamesanthony 01-12-2005, 02:34 PM The Cosby Show- This has come back to local syndication in my area and I must say it is a very good series, I'd say it's the best written and acted sitcom with a cast made up of mostly children. The directors got very good performances out of all of those kids and it's a show that any age group can enjoy it's not like a Nickelodeon type of series at all to me. Right now my local station is rerunning season 7 and even at that late stage I find the shows very entertaining. I think Raven Symone is the character I like least, but she is tolerable.
The Facts of Life- I never could get into this series, maybe it's a guy thing. I preferred Diffrent Strokes
The Nanny- this is borderline to me, not something I'd go out of my way to watch but I could tolerate it if I'm at someone's house
C.S.I.- I've never seen a whole episode so I can't pass any real judgment on this one, I have seen the version with DAvid Caruso and his acting is so absurdly over the top that it is unintentionaly comedic. I tend to dislike this type of show because the cops look more like models than real police officers.
Law and Order seems more credible to me.
Designing Women- I liked this one esp Suzanne's outrageousness. It's one of the first shows that really captures a feminine perspective on life- many episodes are just the 4 of them sitting around having meandering conversations and being outlandish
Murder She Wrote- this never interested me enough to watch even a single episode, but then again I never cared much for shows like Columbo and other whodunnits
Sister, Sister- definitley got better in the second half of the series, basically the episodes where their hair is pressed. The earlier shows are too childish for me. The last season shows are the best to me.
Full House- never my cup of tea
Saved by the Bell:the College Years- I never saw this show, but the original series was too childish for me, although the New Class series which stranglely ran longer than any other version was a show I used to watch occassionally on Saturday morning
Storywriter 01-12-2005, 07:48 PM Well The majority of those shows I don't like either.Full House well I was big on it when I was younger but I have seen reruns so much I don't really watch it anymore just once in awhile but very very very rare.Mel
