KW Pulls Ali & Jack

By Paige Abiniak -- Broadcasting & Cable, 4/28/2004 3:30:00 PM

King World Productions has pulled the plug on syndie talker Living It Up! with Ali & Jack. It will stay in production through May 27, with episodes continuing to air through Sept. 10

The show has been on the edge of cancellation almost since it premiered, hovering at around a 1.0 national household rating.

King World and the Viacom station group had said it wanted to wait and see if the show improved after the February and May sweeps. King World also had a two-year deal with stations, although King World chief Roger King told B&C in an interview this month that he expected to let stations out of those contracts.

Candidates for the spot come September include Warner Bros.' The Larry Elder Show, Sony's Life & Style, and Buena Vista's Tony Danza Show.

Speculation had been that King World also might return Martha Stewart Living to the spot, but since her conviction, that looks far less likely.

This show sucked anyway. GOOD RIDDANCE!

I was a regular watcher of Ali and Jack, and if they had included about 15 minutes of co-host chat (similar to Regis and Kelly), I believe it would've been more interesting. Ali and Jack are very well spoken individuals, each with an interesting life. Their own perspectives could've added more dimension to an otherwise boring talk/info show. They certainly needed more recognizable celebrities, and more segments that can apply to a more wider audience (not everyone can relate to low carb tailgate Superbowl parties)!!

I never got the chance to watch it. It aired at 9:00 in the morning so when I was home, I was usually sleeping at that time.

I heard it wasn;t too great and was canceled. As of July 16 it was still on the air in my neck of the woods. When is it going to taken off?
