- Fatherhood Launch on Father's Day
Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m.
Now for something completely original, Nick@Nite's first ever original animated series based on Bill Cosby's best selling book, Fatherhood, is coming to Nick@Nite just in time for Father's Day. The show is a comedic yet insightful journey that features the challenges, life lessons and comical confusions of family life. Blair Underwood stars as the voice of "Dr. Bindlebeep," a high school teacher, loving husband and father of three in this half-hour series. And Bill Cosby serves as one of the executive producers.
Catch the first episode on Father's Day at 9 p.m. followed by an episode of The Cosby Show at 9:30 p.m. Then every Tuesday catch all-new Fatherhood episodes at 9 p.m., followed by an episode of The Cosby Show; with encores every Saturdays at 10 p.m.
#1 "Take My Daughter Please..."
Premieres: Sunday, June 20 at 9 p.m.
Encores: Tuesday, June 22 at 9 p.m.
Dr. Bindlebeep and Norma are awakened in the middle of the night by a bear in their garage. As animal control officers set about removing the bear, they realize their car is gone. But just after reporting the car stolen, the two discover that their daughter Angie is missing from her room. The mystery is solved moments later when police officers return Angie to the house. It seems that high school lothario James had talked Angie into slipping out and taking the car. The incident propels Dr. Bindlebeep and Norma into a bout of parent peer pressure as they wonder whether their kids are doing as well as other kids.
#2 "It's A Dad, Dad World"
Premieres: Tuesday, June 29 at 9 p.m.
When Dr. Bindlebeep, Norma, and the kids go to visit Dr. Bindlebeep's father Lester and mother Louise, Dr. Bindlebeep quickly slips back into the role of his father's son. Worse yet, the elder Bindlebeep is a health and exercise fanatic who is in better shape that Dr. Bindlebeep will ever be. But then Dr. Bindlebeep's father is injured during a game of touch football. Faced with a father who is now acting like a child, Dr. Bindlebeep must once again assume the role of a father, this time to his own father.
#3 "There Goes the Neighborhood"
Premieres: Tuesday, July 6 at 9 p.m.
Dr. Bindlebeep gives great fatherly advice about not judging others and giving them a chance. However, when a new neighbor moves next door he just can't seem to hear his own guidance. Dr. Bindlebeep spies on the prospective neighbors and offers tainted information about the neighborhood.
#4 "The Lyin' King"
Premieres: Tuesday, July 13 at 9 p.m.
Dr. Bindlebeep prepares to give a speech about truth in the media that evening and uses his captive family audience at the breakfast table to practice the speech and to preach about truth in general. (Of course, Dr. Bindlebeep leaves out the fact that he sneaks donuts during his morning walks and therefore often lies to Norma by omission). In any event, the family is sent off with a lecture on telling the truth, but Roy apparently doesn't listen. Driven by his desire to see a PG-13 movie, the twelve year-old tells a series of lies that sink him deeper and deeper into deception. While he does manage to see the movie, he realizes the consequences of lying can be far greater than it might seem.
#5 "Privacy"
Premieres: Tuesday, July 20 at 9p.m.
Dr. Bindlebeep looks forward to a Saturday alone and some golden "privacy". However, all plans are disrupted when the Wrangler comes by to catch a pesky rodent, Elkins the noisy neighbor barges in to watch his NASCAR racing, Katherine comes home with her little friend Molly and Angie and her friends decide to practice 'singing' in the living room Dr. Bindlebeep erupts and demands everyone out of his house.
#6 "Dad's Birthday"
Premieres: Tuesday, July 27 at 9 p.m.
It's Dr. Bindlebeep's birthday and just to make sure he gets something nice, he slips each of the kids a little extra money for his gift. All seems well as the family heads off to the mall to shop for Dr. Bindlebeep's presents. But just as Angie is about to buy her father a very nice fountain pen to add to his pen collection, James -- the most popular guy in high school -- strolls into the store and says he'll take Angie to a concert that night if she buys the tickets. But Angie doesn't have enough money for a nice present and concert tickets. What a dilemma!
FamilyTiesGOP 05-05-2004, 02:59 PM Most of this sounds boring and/or disgusting to watch. I can't think of anything more sickening than a night of ABC sitcoms visiting Disney World or the latest Bill Cosby invasion on N@N. Who's the Boss? is the only thing remotely positive and of course it is getting the worst treatment.
barwars 05-05-2004, 03:36 PM very confusing schedule.
and with Who's The Boss? coming to DVD, I really dont care anymore about N@N.

Nah, not as long as Wings is still on N@N ;) Once I'm done getting all my favorite episodes on tape, I really don't care what N@N does with Wings anymore. I'm just hoping for a DVD release.
Brent88 05-05-2004, 03:49 PM The schedule can't get anymore confusing. Different shows on different nights.
*screams*
Well, I don't watch N@N anyway.

with shows on DVD, I rarely tape shows.
But I will most probably buy Wings on DVD, even if it werent get the crap treatment from N@N
I am Roboto 05-05-2004, 10:10 PM N@N June has got to be their lowest point ever. A night of cutesy ABC family shows and animated Cosby. Uggh, everything on N@N starts after midnight...
Pavan 05-11-2004, 02:11 PM Nick@Nite has decided NOT to air Full House now after Fatherhood/Cosby Show on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Instead Who's the Boss?/Cosby Show will remain at 10 and 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday and back to back Roseanne's on Saturday at 11 and 11:30 p.m.
Brent88 05-11-2004, 02:37 PM My head hurts after reading that.
EmoJoe 05-15-2004, 03:19 PM The only thing good happening to Nick@Nite in June is Whos The Boss. Who needs another show with Bill Cosby in it? Cosby Show is already overplayed on NickatNite. :(
EmoJoe 05-15-2004, 03:21 PM Of course my two favorite shows, Whos The Boss and Full House, are getting treated badly by Nick@Nite. :(

Bill Cosby isnt in Fatherhood.
and about FH being treated badly.... dont worry -- ABCFamily loves it, and about WTB? -- itll be on DVD on June 8, so if you can afford it -- you're in luck!

I don't think Fatherhood is going to do well. Not in that timeslot anyway. They should have it on at 8:00pm or -8:30pm. Full House is the ratings king for ABC FAM. And I'm sure they will air the best episodes of Who's the Boss during the 4 day marathon. It will take about 10 months to record all of the episodes the way they are airing WTB.

Bill Cosby made up "Fatherhood." Anyway, I am looking foward to buy the DVD of Whos The Boss, and ABC Family has the rights of Full House until 2008. So Ill still get to see my two favorite shows! :happyface

EmoJoe 05-19-2004, 07:01 PM Fatherhood is sounding boring. We already have "The Cosby Show." We dont need another one of Bill Cosby's overrated shows.

It hasn't even aired yet, so how could it be overrated? Cosby is NOT in the show, he is the producer.

People are gonna consider it overrated because alot of us are sick of Billy Cosby and The Cosby show thanks to Nick at Nite, now they probably will try to shove another of his shows down our throats
ilovethe80s 05-23-2004, 02:05 PM I'm happy about Who's The Boss but i don't really care for any of the other shows.

I've seen the promos for it, and the main character looks just like a cartoon version of Cosby, imo.

It will probably turn into a cartoon version of the Cosby Show. Basically it is unnecessary and we don't need it. I won't be watching it, I won't even give it a chance.

I agree. I dont think Fatherhood is going to survive more then a month or two, many Full House fans like me will be angry about Fatherhood taking Full HOuse's timeslot on Tuesdays.

That isn't going to make a difference. Full Houe is N@N's 3rd highest rated show in prime time so it isn't like it's ratings helped N@N in anyway. The Cosby Show and Roseanne are ratings kings for N@N. Full House comming in 3rd is certainly dissapointing as the show airs at a reletive early hour compared to the two shows that follow it. If anything since Fatherhood is an animated series a lot of kids from the Nickelodeon will be attracted to it and watch. I doubt Full House's viewership effects N@N that much.

So, basically, what youre saying is no one watches Full House. FYI, but all of my friends watch it! Im just saying, some Full House fans might be angry that Fatherhood is taking FH's spot, I know I am! Same as some Cosby Show Fans might be angry that Whos The Boss? is taking Cosby Show's timeslot.

By the way, Full House is ABC Family's #1 highest rated show. Yay!! I didnt know that but now I do!

Um no........ All I'm saying is the show's ratings on N@N are dissapointing as it lags in 3rd behind The Cosby Show and Roseanne in prime time when it airs first. Also the addition of an animated series like Fatherhood might improve its ratings in the 9 o'clock hour since a lot of kids that are watching Nick are still up.

Actully, the ratings are pretty good, according to Pav. I think its just a little bit behind Cosby, and, remember, Full House is a kids show so, like you said, a lot of kids are still up at the 9 o'clock hour.
I, for one, love Bill Cosby, and am looking forward to something new from him!

Yes, but a lot of those kids are turned off by sitcoms. Full House being behind Cosby and Roseanne in N@N's ratings certainly doesn't entitle it to special treatment by N@N.

Um Cosby airs at 10 on N@N when most kids are in bed. Full House airs at 9 with a huge Nick audience still up and still gets beat by Cosby in the ratings. Look at Roseanne that airs even later at 11 and still beats Full House in the ratings. All I'm saying is an animated series might help N@N's ratings in the 9 o'clock hour.

I know really! I dont think it will last long at all. Nick@Nite and TV Land should just stick to airing old shows, not original shows.

It's only airing weekly and has a six episode order...
If it does well, they'll air 13 episodes this year, with the remaining 7 airing sometime later this year. The 6 off the bat episodes will air in June and July.
Czas na Zywiec 05-26-2004, 06:15 PM Fatherhood would be much more suited for Teenick, airing alongside Sabrina, than on N@N. It's only taking slots away from the already cramped N@N schedule, even if it's just airing two times a week.

ilovethe80s 05-27-2004, 05:06 PM I just don't know how well an animated series will do on Nick at Nite. I guess we will all have to wait and see. I don't really think Fatherhood will do very well if it airs after 9 or 10pm. I think it would air better maybe at 8pm or 8:30 before Nick at Nite if they extended Nick at Nite to begin at 8pm then i think Fatherhood will work. Does anybody elese think that Fatherhood reminds them of that show on the Disney Channel i think it's called The Proud Family or something. I know there probably different though.
We'll just have to wait and see how it does. The last time Nick At Nite tried its hand at original programming (1991's Hi Honey, I'm Home), it was disastrous. And rightfully so; the show was a turd.
But it's thirteen years later, and the network aims itself at a different demographic now. I, for one, am a Bill Cosby fan and am definitely looking forward to Fatherhood.

I disagree. I think June 2004's schedule is good. Now, the only thing I like about Nick@Nite is Full House, but at least Who's the Boss? is coming, another one of my favorite shows.
EmoJoe 05-28-2004, 08:32 AM Nick@Nite is airing Who's THe Boss? really slow, while they air Full House so quickly. To go through all of the seasons of Full House takes like 4 months because on the weekends they have it air at 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM, but Whos The Boss? wont air at all on the weekends.
Chocoholic 05-28-2004, 12:41 PM I haven't seen Who's The Boss in years. I'd like to see it again. I'd like to see N@N or TV Land bring Tony Danza's other show, Taxi, back but I think we'll see Wings in a much better timeslot before that happens.

It still airs 10 times a week, which means
*does quick calcuations* It'll take 19.6 weeks to air roughly. 196 episodes divided by 10.
:)

The 3AM airing is just going to be a repeat, so it's going to take 10 months to get through one rotation.

I thought I remembered pav saying it was just an encore? I probably just read it wrong then.
Oh well, I'm still excited. This is the first time I've been excited for a show coming to N@N in years. (Roseanne I wasn't too thrilled about, but I've grown to love it. Same for Wings. Full House, on the other hand, :barf: ) I haven't seen it in years, and this is a rarity for N@N, picking up a non TBS hand-me-down. It seems like all the shows they get are from TBS. (Wings being an exception.) Hopefully, the marathon gets really good ratings, as well as the airings, and N@N won't replace it with another episode of Cosby after a few weeks.

It was on ABC Family a while ago. Don't listen to Preston.

I know, I watched it on ABC Family. It was on ABC Family a long time, back when ABC Family was Fox Family. I think that once one network picks up a TV show, if the ratings are good on that network, another network might pick it up. I hope WTB will do good on Nick@Nite, and maybe a station like TBS or Hallmark will pick it up.

I used to watch it when it was still on the air. I never really watched it on ABC Family. At least the N@N versions will be longer than the ABC FAM versions and we will get to see the end credits. Who's the Boss did very good in the ratings. I don't think it ever left the top 25 during it's 8 year run. Maybe the ratings for the marathon will be great and they will add a 10:30pm timslot.

Yea, in my time zone, it came on at 7 in the morning about two or three years back. Way too early for me.

I doubt that, since TBS is moving on to shows of the late 90's like Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, Drew Carey, Home Improvement, etc.
Plus, I hate when a show runs on more than one network. It gets overexposed and people start to hate the show as opposed to love it. How many of you can honestly say you hated The Cosby Show before it came to N@N?

Well TBS still has shows like Cosby Show and Saved by the Bell. And, I think a show airinh on two networks is OK, because sometimes networks treat shows badly. I hate Cosby because its overplayed and im sick of it.

It's ok when it's NOT airing 4 times a day on BOTH networks like Full House was. I agree with you, Cosby Show is overplayed, but so is Full House and Roseanne.
If a show aired once on each network, it would be fine.

If you consider getting the first two slots of primetime in the night treated badly, then I don't want to know what you consider treated good.
Look, this cespool of a show that's already shown on ABC Family multiple times a day is getting treated perfectly fine by N@N. The fact that you can watch it 4 times a day on each network suggests that it's being treated GOOD, not bad. Try being a Wings fan, where the show is stuck in the 3am and 3:30am slot, soon to be just 3:30am. And you can't catch it anywhere else.
So quit complaining because, despite your denial, Full House is one of the most overplayed, as well as one of the most overated, series of all time.

Check out what Nick@Nite is doing to Full House once Fatherhood airs. Youll see what I mean.
And I know Wings is treated badly, worse than Full House. And about FH being in an early timeslot, its only because its a kids show.
And I also know FH gets special treatment by ABC Family.

I wouldn't say N@N was treating FH badly based upon that. It's just for one day of the week, and I can understand why they put it at 9:00PM. After all, I'm sure Fatherhood cost a bit to produce, and the 9:00PM slot is probably where it'd make the most money.

Full House has been on since October... N@N has shown each episode at least 4 or 5 times now. It's just ONE night. FH is getting about the best possible treatment right now, especially compared with other shows. ABC Family already overkills it.

What can I say....LucyFan and I have a history, and I'm not going down that path again.
There's a difference between voicing opinion and bitching. You obviously bitch.
You bitch whenever LucyFan makes a post, whenever he does something she disagrees with. If LucyFan masquerades as TV Observer, good for him. Ignore him. If LucyFan masquerades as Chinese hooker, you should ignore him then too! There are countless threads where you bitched him out for no reason (dream Hallmark schedule thread, anyone?). What was so wrong about him posting HIS dream schedule in response to someone else's dream schedule? Nothing at all, but you go on ahead and start nagging for no apparent reason!
 Toodles.

Not this crap again. Why do you assume that every dream schedule on here will have "Family Ties" on it? Not everyone likes it. That's part of the reason TV Land has cut back when it airs, because it gets LOW ratings.

Jen1989, this is really uncalled for. It's not even a real schedule, so why do you care so much? End of discussion, this thread is supposed to be about the REAL TV Land June, not dream line-ups.

Yes, certain people, who shall go nameless, like to make up dream line-ups. These dream line-ups are OK once awhile, but this is getting crazy now.

Truestrengthwith 06-08-2004, 06:22 PM All I can say is ouch! What is this verbal boxing? Instead of slamming people down with your fists your doing it with words. Can't you all try to be civil? Is the onslaught really necessary? I thought the moderators were supposed to be imparial and understanding when arguments break out, instead of adding to it. Do you think your really going to solve anything by verbally harrassing people? This thread was supposed to be a simple schedule, but a poster had to dream up a schedule, which is technically OT, yet it was allowed. Someone replies to that post and you all have a bitch fest. So, Jen1989 was upset by Tvobserver101's post--big deal. What's disturbing is that if anyone else had replied no one would have said anything, but because it was Jen1989, you all couldn't wait to pounce on her post. I thought threads were supposed to be closed when posters attack each other like those who attacked Jen1989. I guess you all choose to follow only the rules you want to. So, can't you all try to act like you're at least somewhat mature, suck it up and move on, and leave people alone? It's my imression that she doesn't want you all to continue to take shots at her, so can't you just respect that, and leave well enough alone?

YOUR the one who gets all worked up when someone creates a
"dream schedule" and it doesn't include Family Ties. Get a life. The show isn't liked by everyone.
The people who started the DREAM SCHEDULES about TBS need to stop to. This is about N@N June, not TV Land, not TBS or anyone else. Family Ties doesn't even air on N@N!
For the record, I don't like LucyFan(AKA TVObserver101's) bickering either.
Well, for one thing, Jen, why should I say something to LucyFan if you're already jumping on him? No one was jumping on you for what I thought deserved to be jumped on, so I was going to set you straight. And I did. If you have a problem with that, that's just peachy, ignore me, because I really, really do not care.

I think it should air on Teenick, because its seems like kind of a teen show,

Fatherhood is the last N@N show that belongs on Teenick.
"Regular" Nick, maybe.... but not Teenick.
There's absolutely NOTHING "teen" about it.

I think it would belong on Teenick over Nick. Nick is for LITTLE KIDS!

And Teenick is any more mature??
Personally, as a teen.... Teenick is filled with garbage.

I do agree that Teenick is garbage but Teenick has shows that are a bit more mature. I mean, Teenick doesnt have shows about sponges that live in pineapples lol. Althoguh I do like that show.

Fatherhood would be much more suited for Teenick, airing alongside Sabrina, than on N@N. It's only taking slots away from the already cramped N@N schedule, even if it's just airing two times a week.
Its about to get even more cramped. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is coming in September, I have no idea when that could air, and Murphy Brown is coming in January, again, I dont know where that could air. Their best bet is to get rid of double takes.

I think Nick@Nite has decided not to show a repeat on the 3:00 AM episode. WTB Resourse has a schedule of WTB? on Nick@Nite and it looked like this:
Sunday, June 20,
10:00 PM- Pilot
Monday, June 21
3:00 AM- Briefless Encounter
10:00 PM- Angela's First Fight
...and so on
Also, I think WTB? now airs at 3:00 AM on weekends but not at 10:00 PM, like they do with Full House on weekends. If im not mistaken, I think Wings was supposed to air at 3:00 AM on weekends, but I guess Nick@Nite dumped that idea. I got this info from WTB Resourse.

No, Who's the Boss is Sun-Thurs nights at 10:00 p.m. & 3:00 a.m. Wings is on Friday and Saturday NIGHTS at 3:00 a.m. WTBR.com is right, but they go by actual day time rather than Nick@Nite time. Example for the Thursday NIGHT airing of 3:00 a.m., they list it as Friday MORNING.

Well, true that there will be a lot of shows in the mix, but Cheers will probably be gone by September at the latest, and just air on TV Land I bet. Wings will probably be gone. Who's the Boss? will probably be reduced by September or January for sure, since it will expire after next May, and I have a hunch they will not renew, just like how they didn't for Charles in Charge. So, they could still have double takes when Fresh Prince and Murphy Brown join the line-up. Fresh Prince will probably work, but I feel Murphy will not do well, like Coach and Wings.

If Nick@Nite doesnt renew WTB? that is kind of sad. :( But by May of next year, who knows what will happen? :) WTB? will probably be released on DVD to about season six or seven, thats better than Nick@Nite, and maybe WTB? will be a hit so Nick@nite will be forced to renew.
But you dodnt know for sure they will not renew it, right? Youre just guessing, right? I hope your guess turns out to be wrong, no offense to you, but I just want WTB? to stay on Nick@Nite for ahile.

Six or seven seasons on DVD by next May? That is sort of wishful thinking. At most, three seasons would be released by then. I think season two should be just about out by then, if this first season sells well, that is.
I don't see Who's the Boss? being a bit hit for Nick@Nite. I love the show, but I can tell it won't be a huge hit. For example, I knew shows like Cosby Show, Cheers, Roseanne, Full House (and before that Three's Company, Diff'rent Strokes, etc.) would work and be hits. I also had a BIG feeling Coach and Wings would bomb, because they just don't fit Nick@Nite. If Who's the Boss? had come, lets say, two-three years earlier, I think it would have worked REALLY well. If Who's the Boss? does not do well, I'm sure they'll still air it, but just late night. They could always move it to sister station Spike TV. They need sitcoms!

True. Although they sell a new season of Friends like every two months,
EmoJoe 06-14-2004, 08:28 PM I have this wonderful idea called taping Who's The Boss!

Where did you get that number from? It's more like two seasons a YEAR. Season 7 came out in April, season 8 is out in November of Friends. That's every 6-7 months, not two.

OK, so I exagarted a little bit lol.
Skywalker 06-14-2004, 08:45 PM There is a solution to these problems with shows leaving and stuff. Tape them. I taped all the episodes of Wings N@N has aired cause I know it won't be on much longer. I plan on doing the same thing with Who's the Boss?. The way the networks are these days, you never know what's coming or going. I learned this the hard way when I watched Diffrent Strokes back in 2002. I figured I didn't have to tape it cause it would be on forever. Next thing I knew, it was gone.
TVJunkie101 06-14-2004, 10:13 PM Exactly! I agree completely. If you like a show, TAPE IT. I too, learned it the hard way a few times.

Pav did they switch around the episodes they are airing in the marathon? Cause on my digital cable guide it had the pilot listed 10:30, but they showed the pilot at 9 instead, none of the episodes are being aired in the order my digitial cable guide has them listed.

On Nick@Nite, thats how it was listed, too.
Pavan 06-18-2004, 05:07 PM I just saw the premiere episode of Fatherhood (#106 "It's A Dad, Dad World"), which debuts this Sunday, Father's Day, @ 9 on Nick@Nite -- and it was pretty good I thought.
The theme was jazzy and pretty good. All themes by Bill Cosby are usually good. The family is unique. The father is caring. The mother is a typical mom. The son is smart. The daughter is your typical teenager. And the youngest daughter loves her family, especially grandpa.
The show will only do well I think leading out of Nickelodeon, so good move by Nick@Nite airing it at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays (and 10 p.m. encores on Saturdays). The animation style looks like "Hey, Arnold!" to me. It's not really like The Cosby Show, but it has some similarities, like the father is a doctor.
The premiere episode's plot was interesting. The father is worried about his father. His father is in good shape but has one medical problem (which you'll see when you watch the episode). His father plays touch football even, that's how good of shape he is in.
The mother and grandma didn't have many lines in this episode. It's a good family show. Like TV Guide, I give this 8 out of 10 stars. I was impressed and it exceeded my expectations.

Is it just me or does Fatherhood just seem like an animated Cosby Show? I mean the dad is just an animated version of Cosby and the mother kinda looks like Phylicia Rashad and the kids kinda resemble the Cosby kids.
I might watch it just to see if it's interesting or not, but it just doesn't seem like it'll fit on N@N maybe Nick Jr

I don't think the son resembles Theo at ALL. Maybe the daughter resembles Vanessa. The young daughter is sort of like Rudy. The mom doesn't act like Claire at all.
I don't think this fits Nick Jr. Maybe Nickelodeon at 8:30, but not Nick Jr.

That's exactly what I'm going to do with Who's the Boss? I learned this lesson the hard way when TBS was airing Lois and Clark last year, I thought I'd have plenty of time to tape the whole series, but I didn't  I could kick myself for that.
Even though I have the WTB season 1 DVD I am still gonna tape the whole series.
