View Full Version : Last night, I was reminded of why I hate K-Mart...

I was at the local mall last night and I decided to check out K-Mart. I haven't been into K-Mart for a long time, since at least last summer. I stopped going there because I was sick of the lousy customer service. (It's been lousy for years. I don't know HOW they stay in business.) Anyway, I was shopping around and I saw this really nice shirt that I thought my mom would like for Mother's Day. It was with the clearance items, but the way it was thrown there, I figured another customer had taken it and decided they didn't want it, so they just threw it there instead of putting it back where it belonged. The shirt didn't have a price on it, so I went to look for someone to see if they could do a price check for me. (I only had so much money on me. I didn't want to get up to the register and find I went over my budget.) I couldn't find anyone in the clothing department, but there was an employee sitting at the jewelery counter, reading a book and munching on potato chips. I went up to her and politely asked her if she could do a price check for me. She snapped at me and told me that clothing wasn't her department. I said, "Well, I can't find anyone in the clothing department. Why can't you just do it or page someone who can help me?" She curtly said that it wasn't her job to do that and she was busy (Busy reading and eating chips!) and I should find someone myself or just wait until the cashier rang up the shirt. I started to get really annoyed and told her that either she would help me out or the next person I would be speaking to would be her manager. She just snorted and said for me to just find someone else to help me. I said, "OK, maybe I'll just go shop somewhere else, somewhere where they act like they actually want my business." I left the shirt and cart by her counter and walked away. She yelled at me that I couldn't leave that stuff there. I yelled back that she and everyone else in that store needed to learn a few things about customer service. I let the manager know why I was leaving the store empty-handed, but I doubt he cared. They haven't cared for years.

I know what it's like to have to deal with the general public. I know I've complained about certain customers and my job. But really, is there any need to be nasty to customers just for being there in the first place? I'd rather go the extra miles out of town to Target or Kohl's. At least there they actually act like they want my business. I wish they'd close down the local K-Mart and replace it with Target or Kohl's. (And replace the rude and lazy employees too, of course.)

Never had any experiences like that at K-Mart.

Busy reading and eating chips? ohno: The world is getting lazy.

Maybe she was ticked off because she only makes $5.00 an hour. I don't go to KMart (or as I call it, Came Apart, unless they are having a good sale, which isn't very often.

I almost thought this was going to be related to Nate...

But yeah I hate K-Mart. And Wal-Mart. They're disgusting. The people suck and all the stores are really dirty...The only place I can actually stand anymore is Target.

I haven't heard that one before. That's pretty funny. Anyways I don't shop much at K-Mart. Most of the ones that used to be near my house are gone now anyway, replaced with better stores. I know what it's like to deal with rude employees. I was just in Meijers the other day and was snapped at by a girl who worked there and all I did was ask her was where the bottle return section was.

Didn't K-Mart file for bankruptcy over a year ago? I thought they'd be gone by now.

I haven't been to Kmart in years. There's a Wal-Mart with a McDonald's in it but it is very dirty. I only go there to get blank tapes that come in the 10 packs. I don't know how anyone can work there. I prefer Target.

A lot of K-Mart stores were closed after that bankruptcy too. I really never was impressed. I always preferred Wal-Mart(there's not a K-Mart in my town anyway, while a Wal-Mart Supercenter is right out my window :D ). There is a K-Mart about 20 minutes down the interstate in Auburn though. I went there a few weeks ago when we were down there and wasn't impressed. There was boxes of stuff in the aisles.

well you shouldn't have kept talking back and trying to force her to do things.

Yeah, they did...but for some reason, there's still a lot of 'em around. I know the one in my town is still open.

Same here. Ours is right by the WalMart so I don't see how it is staying open--it's always empty in there.

When I lived in that other town *spits*, Kmart & Walmart were virtually the ONLY major stores the town had (it was a town of 7000), so I had to do all my shopping there - at least once every two weeks for just two months shy of 11 years. :barf:

I will NEVER live there and I will NEVER shop at the Kmart & Walmart there...EW. Now that I'm back home, the closest store to me is Target -- Walmart is just down the block from Target, but I think I've only gone there 3 times since I moved back home in September. I much prefer Target to the other stores. :D It's as well- the Kmart here is clear across town. So, who cares?

I actually think it's good she talked back to her. Even if it wasn't her department, it is her job to serve the customer. And there was nobody in the right department, so she should have helped.

That is really pathetic!! I applaud you for telling her off more or less. And Kmart wonders why they were going bankrupt.

Ditto. I mean, I shop at dollar stores too...but our Wal-Mart and KMart seem so...lowlife. I blame half of it on the damn Wal-Mart Supercenters. Hell on earth. Regular Wal-Marts are so much better.

You can have the best store ever. The best merchandise ever.
If you have sorry help ,it can ruin the place. Was it possible
the girl was on her break? If she was she should have said I'm sorry I am on my break. Please go to the register and have
them page for someone in clothes. If not she should be fired.

Anyway, our K Marts in San Antonio have bit the dust, and the Wal-Mart Supercenter where I live,it's huge but it isn't very much. Our grocery store where I shop have better deals than Wal-Mart,better meat and food selection, gas station, the whole nine yards and cheaper too.

She had alot of nerve for yelling at you for leaving the shirt & the cart. You should've told her "If you don't like it, then you put them away, you aren't doing anything anyway!!"

As for you telling the manager, I doubt he cared, either. I've complained to managers a few times before and all they say is "I'll take care of it". Yeah, sure you will.

There's talk of opening a Walmart Supercenter here.

*thinks of burning it down if it opens* :angdev:

Last night my dad as he always does, called and asked if he needed to bring anything home. With this post still on my mind I asked him to bring home some potato chips. I wanted some after reading this post. He did and they were good to. offtopic:
