....to make us laugh. I'm talking about besides her joning with JJ. JJ was zany, Michael got drunk off Vita Brite, but it seemed Thelma was pretty straight. I can't ever recall her DOING anything slapstick. Willona panting like a dog during that Gerite episode is a another example. JJ fainting at the site of the woman in the bathing suit, who WAS phat!!

I wouldn't call marrying a 42 year old man who would soon become her uncle crazy, would you??

All the characters were straight except for J.J and Bookman.

Not really, except for a few times when she was dating guys that were older than her...

I often thought her put-downs of JJ were sometimes quite funny and well-done- and not just in a 'straight woman' deal!

I think the most daring thing Thelma ever did was get in Florida's face and say that she was going to move in with Ibe!

Yes, she did. In Thelma Moves Out, karen flirts with her boyfriend(Thelma's) and Karen asks Paul seductively, "Did you bring these cherries just for me?" Thelma roughly grabs Karen's arm(making her stand up) and Thelma says, "No he didn't. But if you don't get out of here right now, "I'll have something for you."(Makes a fist). Then later, Karen tells her that she and Thelma were supposed to share everything(implying Paul in this too). Thelma does a weird smile, and then says, "Fine! Hvae some cherries!" Roughly pushes Karen into the chocolate covered cherries). I think the audience was amusingly shocked at Thelma's behavior in this scene..
