According to Lisa's journal today.

We spent the last two days shooting scenes inside the Eastland Cafeteria. It was so freaky. The set designers had the model of the original set and recreated it inside a church fellowship hall in Toronto.

I can’t tell you the emotions that flooded to the surface as I made “an entrance” through the archway at stage left. Do you remember how many times us girls came through that arch? What was cool was that the kitchen doors actually led into a real kitchen where our set kitchen was.

My favorite part of the set was the lounge off the dining room. Remember the one that had the couch and the vending machines and the shelves of games. The only thing the set designer left out was the pay phone. At through separate times, Kimmie, Mindy and I walked around the set and all three of us, unbeknownst of the others, said, “Hey, where’s the pay phone that goes here?”

The set designer said that he couldn’t attach it to the existing pole without putting holes in the church’s property. Because us girls knew that our fans would also notice the oversight, we added a line in the script. The sequence goes like this:

Natalie

I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years.

Dorothy (Tootie)

I can’t believe they got rid of the pay phone.

Blair

I can’t believe I used to do dishes.

Another really fun aspect of shooting in the Eastland cafeteria was finally getting to see what the “fourth wall” looked like. The fourth wall on a sitcom set is the side of the room where the cameras are lined up that the television audience never gets to see. (In actuality, there isn’t even a wall there because that is also the perspective from which the studio audience watches the show.)

Friday night, the last night of filming, was exciting.. We had the big Thanksgiving scene where Mrs. Garrett toasts all the girls and then they put on 80’s tunes and we danced the night away. Assuming that Blair had taken a million ballroom dancing classes and had no idea how to “disco” dance, I made a total idiot out of myself. And I had so much fun doing it.

Jo: I'm gonna roll it through their front door and then POW! boy POW! Dead Kawasaki's all over the street!
Mrs G: I take it you didn't get the job. May I have those matches?Please!
Jo: That's right, I DID NOT GET THE JOB! DID ANYBODY MISS THAT? I-DID NOT-GET-THE-JOB! Go ahead Blair, hit me with your best shot, go ahead!
Blair: *silence*
Nat: Oh Blair, you can do better then that!

Even if Nancy changed her mind, she is busy doing the Division. Where would she find the time?

I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait for the reunion. I am so excited. I will get very emotional about it. I can't wait to see Blair, Natalie, Dorothy(Tootie, Mrs. Garrett, Mrs. Garrett's son Raymond, Blair's husband Tad, Natalie's two boyfriends Robert & Harper, Jo's daughter Jamie, Jo's husband Rick, Dorothy's daughter Tisha and Sam the Bellboy.

Also it will be different without Jo. It will not be the same without the whole gang. It will be fine, fun and good.

I'm just looking forward to see all of those people. I wish Nancy were done the movie, but I accepted her decision. I would miss any of the girls if they weren't in the movie. I'm looking forward to the movie.

See, this is what The Facts of Life is all about. Eastland. That's all that matters. Just hearing her talking about going under the arch...I mean, I just remembered how much I love the Facts. Yeah, Jo's not in it. That sucks. ( No matter how much I believe Nancy McKeon is overrated, she made one hell of a character out of Jo. So yes, Jo is my favorite character. Always has been.)
But that's okay, we've got the other girls, WHICH ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT, and we've got Eastland.
