I found this link, and it is from April 23. The case against Ward Weaver, the man accused of the 2002 kidnapping and murders of Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis, has suffered a blow: The trial, which was slated to start this coming June, has been suspended!
Judge Robert Herndon ruled that Ward Weaver is mentally unfit, and will therefore be going to a state mental hospital. Herndon remarked that Weaver is "too depressed and withdrawn." Prosecutors, however, aren't buying it. They believe that Weaver is pretending to be mentally ill.
However, this setback DOES NOT mean that the trial is called off entirely. It just won't be happening in June of 2004, as scheduled.
