hello, i am new here and only signed up to ask this question. i have scowered the internet but have found no help, so i figured i would try a message board. anyway...

On the last disc of Cheers Season 2 DVD "Norman's Conquest" (at least on my dvd) after the commercial break, the audio gets kinda screwy. That is, the video and audio are out of sync by a half second to a second. Not enough to be a huge problem, but definately long enough to be noticeable. I didn't see any other posts about this, so I figured I would ask. Is it that way on all discs? Was the episode's audio screwy to begin with? I can't recall ever seeing this episode on N@N, which leads me to think they might not have shown it (possibly because of this problem). But then again, I might be way off.

Anyway, anyone else experience this?

I dont have that problem.
but I do have a problem on my set.... I have to stop the DVD and then press play for the sound to work.
And it only happens with "Cheers - Season 2"

thanks for the reply. my dvd set does the same thing with the audio, except I just hit the audio button and it works. but that episode's audio definately lags on mine. i will try it again when i get home from work to see if I can recreate it, then I will try it on a different dvd player.

sigh... just my luck. I would feel better if it wasn't just mine (not that I want your dvd to not work right, it just means I was unlucky when I got it). Problem is, I bought it when it came out but just finished it over the weekend. So I can't return it, as it has been awhile, and I don't have my receipt anymore :(

Actually, let me edit what I said above. Actually the audio not being on on my dvd set only happens on one of my dvd players. It seems to play the audio from the start on my other dvd player.

I got home and checked it again, and it happens again on a different dvd player as well. The audio sync problem starts after the commercial break (where it should have been) right after Coach answers the phone call from the "conquest". It is very noticeable when he is on the phone, but stays out of sync from there on till the end of the episode. It is more noticeable in some spots such as the "I am sure God isn't too happy about it either" line of Carla's (or something like that). It is off by about a half second or so and is pretty noticeable.

Anyway, could I beg someone to please throw in their copy and see if it exists on theirs as well (cause I will beg if needed)? It is conceivable that some might miss it, but if you look for it, and it is there, you will notice it. I am having a hard time believing that it is just my dvd (no scratches, or noticeable breaks in the episode where something might occur). It starts right when coach answers the phone right at the edit break (when the shot switches to coach). Chances are it wouldn't occur so "cleanly" right at that spot (hope that makes sense).

I don't know what it is, but I can sit and watch anything starring Sam and Diane and that episode definately had them front and center!

looks like the Sam/Diane faction is growing yet again. Shouldn't be too long before the frith returns. ;)

I am bumping this up, now that more people have these sets. I am still curious about this, and have never received a reply that really answered my question.

okay, google is your friend:

http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ReviewID=4732&SID=17&PID=109499

"The dialogue is always clear, but unfortunately there is a slight audio sync problem located on disc 4. During Norman's Conquest, the audio sync falls out at around the 13 minute mark and remains this way until the episode ends. This is the only audio fault found in this collection. "

"Slight audio sync problem on disc 4. During Norman's Conquest, the audio sync falls out at around the 14 minute mark and remains this way until the episode ends."

Apparently there is an audio goof on the season 2 DVD sets.

I am going to write paramount to see if this was ever fixed.
