I was watching "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning, and with Regis on vacation, George Lopez was Kelly's cohost. He showed a picture of his dog, an adorable black and white chihuahua named CHICO, and made sure to say that the dog is named after Freddie!

There was no more discussion about him, but still, the mere mention of George's inspiration made my heart race. It is sooo great to hear anything about Freddie anymore, and to know that someone as talented as George credits him with kicking down the door for Latino comics!

BTW, has anyone else noticed that the more weight George loses, the more he looks like Freddie might have if he had made it to his 40's? (George is 43 and has the same kind of huge smile, strong chin, and the greatest salt-and-pepper hair!)

wow that is so cool I haven't watched his show too much, to be honest i don't care for the charecter of his mom and if she is anything like George's mom i apologize but she is so mean I can't stand the way she talk to George but i think he is a riot
I think that is so sweet that he named his dog after Freddie's character, Chico

Yeah, his mom is kinda mean. But she's a real riot. Mike & I enjoy watching his show every week. That is neat he named his dog after Freddie! :) Thanks for sharing! :)

Well, Ms Angie, if you watched the show you would have seen Benny show her softer side a couple weeks ago. While George thought he could never do anything to please his mother, he found out that the reason she always talked the way she did to him was because she was so afraid of losing him. As you know, Benny's life has been full of disappointments and heartaches and George was the only "man" that didn't run out on her. She treated him that way because she was supersticious that when she treated a "man" like she loved him, he would leave her. It was a quite an emotional moment for both of them.:(

I've always said I love GEORGE!!! As for him to name his doggie after Chico is another heartfelt emotion from him. He's like us....... He has never forgotten our dear Freddie!

As for Benny..... I really like the actress who plays Benny. She's a hoot. :)
