View Full Version : If i was Steve Francis or Mobley, i wouldn't pass the ball to Tao Ming either
TVFactFan 04-25-2004, 06:10 PM because he is
Goofy
No speed
No inside moves
Clumsy
Not Agressive on Defense
Confused
Takes Too many Dumb shots
Can't jump-all he does is put his arms in the air
He is too big to be imitated by Shaq
The Rockets are much better and faster without him on the Floor. Yao serves no purpose when he is in the game. All he does is take up space. He defintely is not a 4th qtr scoring option.

Obviously you don't know anything about basketball. Without Yao, the rockets wouldn't even be in the playoffs right now. He does not take clumsy shots, he actually makes them. Has no speed? Look at Shaq. He's too big to be intimadated by Shaq? It's not supposed to be a law to be intimadated by Shaq. In fact, you're being a hater to Yao for being too tall. What do you mean he has no inside moves? Besides Shaq, Yao is one of the league's best on inside moves. How is he goofy and confused? The only one goofy and confused is you.

He keeps falling down and tripping over his own feet. He gets CONFUSED in the 4th qtr which is why Karl Malone took advantage of him in OT. He also takes those DUMB 20 ft jump shots when his team is trailing. Yao is not mentally ready for the NBA.

He never got confused in the fourth quarter. He just switched to Karl Malone, so he will less likely to get fouled by Shaq. As far as those 20 foot jumpers go..... tall people hitting those long jumpers are rare period. The only time he fell was when he was posting up against malone. Malone backed down and Yao never noticed. Any center could get fooled like that. He made the All-NBA third team in his second year. Not a lot of second year stars can make any all nba teams, lebron can, but that's whole another story. Bottom line...... Yao is ready for the NBA period.
:yeahthat:

IT'S HIS SECOND YEAR What do you expect? The guy plays zone according to Van Gundy. He is doing average for any second year center.

I just wish he wouldn't fall down so much. It doesn't look very good. And don't say he only fell once because he was on the floor all night.

Maybe... because Shaq and Karl are aggressive on him.

And what's up with Yao saying he was tired earlier in the series? Men are not supposed to talk like that. If he is tired it should be at home not on ABC in front of a national audience. That's a sign of weakness

Any source saying he was tired and even if he was tired he would still play showing not to be a coward.

I feel a little bad right now. I found out in the USA Today that Yao is deaf in his left ear.

That news was old. I remembered in an article that he was sick once and he took this medicine, but he didn't kno that he wasn't supposed to use that medicine, so the deaf thing on his left ear happened. He's only 60% deaf on the left ear though.

Yer right! Let's have Stevie "I'll never be the Franchise" dribble the ball for 23 of the 24 second clock and let him jack one up from 25 feet. Kinda like what he did at the end of regulation. AIRBALL!!! Cena637 is right. Without Yao the Rockets would be in the lottery again!! Let's see-Yao averaged 17.5 pts, 9reb, and shot over 52% from the field. Francis averaged 16.6 pts, shot 40% from the field, 6.2 ast.,and the glaring stat of 3.72 turnovers. Just what I want in a point guard. Low % shooting and a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. I would trade him in a minute if someone would take him.

Oh, so you mean the 6.60 Defensive rebounds a game this year and his 1.90 blocks per game this year were all mistakes in nba.com?

This is Yao's first playoff experience..so lets not be too quick to bash the man. During the season is where we can judge him..or what his peers say. Shaq says he is the hardest bigman to guard. He is real strong and quick for his size. He is not Wang from the Clippers. Steve Francis makes it hard to win with a bigman like that...allow me to explain.
If Francis needs to penetrate to open up his outside shoot(which is not too reliable) then he needs to get in the paint. When you have a good 7 footer you really dont need to penetrate. You need to pound the paint using the bigman..not ask the bigman to take his defender outside so you can go one on one with the point guard or shooting guard thats guarding you. What happens is that if and when Francis does beat his man off the dribble the shot clock is down to 8 seconds left..he then kicks the ball out to Yao who has 3 seconds to decide what he needs to do...3 seconds to carry out the move (including pump fake) and 2 seconds to jump and release the ball.
What Houston needs is a reqular point guard who does not desire to score. Someone like Chucky Atkins or Kenny Anderson. Someone who can just pass the ball into the paint and guard the other point guard very well. They will pay much less for either and can afford a better starting small forward..someone like Bowen..who can defend and if the double team comes on Yao the small forward can hit the open 3.

Why because he not Hakeem and he not blocking or changing alot of shots??? Look at this stat: Lat year in the first round of the playoffs Shaq averaged 28.5 pts a game. This year he is at 17.3 pts a game. That is because of Yao. He may not be flashy but he has changed Shaqs game. He can't just bull over him like he does everone else. Shaq has no game. He is just big and powerful. He finally found someone that can affect the way he palys and all of his weeknesses are showing. I laugh when I see him try and step out and take Yao of the dribble like Hakeem used to do to him. He can't do it because he never has had to work at it.

Yao is a OK 7 footer. NOt a Good 7 footer.
jekouptown 04-29-2004, 09:10 AM only if you compare him to shaq and what shaq has shown in the playoffs. Last year as a rookie he did real good.

true indeed. He would not even be Kelvin Cato..he would be Nazr Mohommed.
