Does anybody have any info on what Mike Evans is up too; if he has retired from the entertainment business, etc...I always thought he was such a highlight on both All in the Family and The Jeffersons...:wave:

I saw a retrospective on the Jeffersons at The Museum of Tv and Radio in NYC. Sherman Hemley, Isabel Sanford, Marla Gibbs, Berlinda Tolbert, Ned Wertimer and the producers were there. Berlinda said that Mike left Hollywood entirely and became a farmer in upstate NY. I read or heard someplace else that he was not happy in Hollywood. Berlinda said that Damon Evans became moved to Europe to sing opera.

Mike seemed to have gotten disgusted with Hollywood from the Jeffersons days when he quit in 1981. I don't think he did much after that. Does anyone remember how they wrote Lionel out the second time he left?

A book I read said that he and Jenny separated in 1981. I remember those episodes but I also remember them getting back together at the end. I think Lionel appeared in two more episodes in year 8 then he vanished. Then Jenny appeared through 1983 without him and I think they said Lionel was working out of town. For example in the episode where Jessica is christened/baptized in year 8 Lionel is nowhere in sight.

In "Sayonara" in the last season when Lionel and Jenny announce that they have news their parents think that Jenny is pregnant, which would mean that they were still together and as far as their parents were concerned they still had a decent marital relationship.
