John Randolph died at age 88 on February 24, 2004. He played Roseanne and Jackie's father. I don't know why he died.

I always liked John Randolph's role as Roseanne and Jackie's father. Too bad the show decided to make him some cheater and child abuser in season 4 and beyond. Notice how he never guested starred again after that personality change.

does anybody else think the "Dear Mom and Dad" episode in season 1 is as funny as I do? this is the one where roseanne's parents make an unannounced visit. john randolph cracks me up in this episode.

I don't know why but i think that is so funny, plus dan's facial expressions and comments because he can't get any sleep. anybody else think this is an underappreciated and overlooked hilarious episode or is it just me??

LOL!!! I also love the part where Al is talking about where he'd sleep and won't sleep.

Me too! I love this episode as well. This kind of basic plot is why I like the earlier episodes far more than the later. Roseanne's dad should have stayed this way. They tried to do too much in the later years, and it hurt the show.

Wasn't she saying Auntie Barbara? I couldn't make it out exactly, but that's what it sounded like.
