My wish is for Chico and the Man to be sold on DVD's. Also on the DVD's I would love to see comments made by Freddie jr. telling his father's fans what he likes and what epsiodes make him laugh the most. Wouldn't that be cool. Maybe my wish will happen one day......... :)

That's a great wish...mine would be to have CATM out on DVD..and include all the outtakes from the 3 seasons Freddie was on. That would be a dream come true.

Wouldn't that be fantastic!!!! Freddie was very prolific with his appearances on things. If everyone of them were compiled onto DVD... sort of the best of Freddie's TV appearances... That would be great... think of all the talk and variety shows he made guest appearances on. Then to have his show, his movie and his HBO special on DVD too.... HEAVEN!!!!! :happyface

what was it like please tell us!!!!!! I would love to see that too.
Yes i think it would be a hoot to have all the bloopers from Freddie's seasons can you imagine the laughter that went on back stage!!!
I would love to hear what Jr's favorite episodes were.
I don't suppose there is A FP Jr site where we could ask (Plead) with Freddie Jr to encourage his Fathers show to be released on DVD?
Ok so I'm a dreamer.

I would love to see everything Freddie was in made into a DVD. I especially would love to see the outtakes.

Joy, that isn't a bad idea, contacting FP jr, and having a DVD released of his father. It would be a great money maker for Maria, his grandmother, and it would really attract alot of attention for Freddie's talent.

How is it possible that so many 70's shows are on DVD and not CATm?!?

Well ladies, (and guys too! LOL) I have proof positive that there were parts of the CATM episodes cut out when TV Land aired them back a couple of years ago (OMG has it been that long ago! )

I was able to secure a copy of an audio tape of the boxer episode from someone who had bought it on eBay from someone who apparently had taped the episode. I remember doing that with other shows back in the 70's before we had VCRs. Anyway, I was listening to it today and found a part of it I had never heard before. OMG it was too funny. I could almost picture it happening in my mind. I wanted to at least share the written dialogue with you.

This comes from the first section of the show, before the first commercial break. It starts with the scene where Ed tells Louie to do what he can to talk Chico out of becoming a professional boxer. I am going to start with a famous line of Chico's (one of my favorites) and then is the part they never aired on TV Land. Imagine my surprise when I heard this part!

Chico: Louie, how does Ed do it. I see your lips moving but all I hear is his voice.
Louie: Look Chico. Wait a minute. You’re talking to a dude who’s been around and knows a few things. OK, let’s say you turn pro and become the champ. Now that’s where all your troubles start.
Chico: What trouble, I’ll be rich.
Louie: Exactly!
Chico: Well if that’s trouble; order me a double, will ya.
Louie: You don’t seem to get the message. Come on over and let me tell you something. Let me try to set you straight. Alright, sit down there boy. Alright, now you're the champ, see.
Chico: Yeah.
Louie: Now what’s the first thing they do?
Chico: They hand me a million dollars!
Louie: Right! Now you got to go out and buy yourself one of them great big ole fancy cars
Chico: A-hum…
Louie: And then the next thing you know she’s going to be sitting there right next to you.
Chico: Who? Who?
Louie: Oh that beautiful model you saw on the magazine cover. And you’ll say, ‘Hey, Louie, this is for me!’ So you snap your fingers and there she is.
Chico: (snaps his fingers and looks around) Where is she?
Louie: There! And she’s wearing one of them itty bitty bikinis THAT big (holds fingers a small distance apart)
Chico: AAAAALLLLLRRRIIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTTT!!!!!
Louie: Come on you young punk, you’re gonna make me feel jealous! And let’s face it. Look, once you become famous, you’re gonna have Fifi in Paris, Gina in Rome, Glennis in London
Chico: Not to mention those two little tortillas in swings in San Juan!
Louie: Right! Guys gonna be hanging around you so they can be near them chicks.
Chico: Well I ain’t gonna have any guys like that!
Louie: But, look, if you need one, I’m available.
Ed: (walking in on the tail end of the conversation) YOU DUMMY! Who’s side are you on?
Chico: A HA! I knew you put Louie up to this.
Ed: Are you kidding? Would I entrust a delicate mission to an oaf like this? A man doesn’t even know which end of the garbage can to put the lid on?
Chico: Hey what’s going on Louie?
Salvador: (Walking in) Hi Ed.
Louie: Hey Salvador!
Salvador: Hey Chico, I have something to tell you. It’s a… a… (To Ed) What was it you wanted me to tell him?
Ed: What? I never saw him before in my life!
Chico: A ha! (Ed, Louie and Salvador walk away) Alright guys, come back here. Come over here, come on, come on… now listen fellas, I know what you’re trying to do and I appreciate it. But boxing is a legitimate way to make it big and I am not going to blow my shot. So I’m going to call Mr. Lockman and tell him to count me in.
Ed: Yeah, the first thing you know they’ll be counting you out. You really have made up your mind?
Chico: Yes I have.
Ed: OK, well then I guess it’s time I made up my mind.
Louie: Oh Ed, don’t stand in the boy’s way. Opportunity only knocks once, you know.
Ed: I know, but the guy he’ll be fighting will keep on knocking! First it was the great black hope, then it was the great white hope, now make way for the great big dope!

Then it breaks for a commercial...

I sure wish someone would put the UNCUT versions of CATM on DVD real soon!!!!!!

I remember seeing a scene in CATM that I hadn't seen since the 70's. I don't remember which episode it is but in it Della is dressed up in a long sexy looking dress & sings this old song called TEACH ME TONITE. She walks down the stairs in the garage singing it while Chico & Ed are watching. There is a blackboard in the garage for some reason. I know I wasn't going nuts LOL!

I'd like to see a DVD set like they did with STARSKY & HUTCH. That would be great! The season one dvd of S&H is great! :)

Forgive me if this is off topic but I was chatting with Xerogravity (Gabriel Ruiz) and he was even asking me if I had heard if CATM was coming out on DVD. He thought maybe if Maria had anything to do with it not coming out. I told him I didn't know.... That is a good question?

Macca, I had the same problem, an older version of quicktime that was missing some of the components. After being fustrated for a while, I just decided to dump my old quicktime (uninstall) and went to download.com and got the newest version. After I installed that, the clip worked like a charm..... except it took about an hour to completely download.... that is because I have the slowest internet on the planet. Comes from living in the middle of the woods..... nothing but the old hardline phone lines (no fiber optics even) and a 56K modem and a local ISP. Oh well, it is the price I pay for the peace and quiet I have.

Ok the links I put up were put on here wrong.Let me try this again.

When you go to the site you will see two different paragraphs to click on.

This one is for dial-up;

tt_standup_160x120.mp4 -- Exclusive! Available for the first time on the web, Tim Thomerson's segment from HBO’s “Freddie Prinze and Friends”. Originally aired in 1975, this clip features the now famous “Stage Coach” routine. Due to coarse language, this video has been edited for content. However, to retain the spirit of the humor, not all of the profanity was edited out. This video carries a 13-up warning for parents. Modem version (13mb)

This one is for cable.
