It's not Mattingly's fault that the Yanks are stinking up the joint.

It's only April....let's relax a bit

I know it is April, but playing a 3 game series aganst Oakland is not what the Yankees need right now.

I am not concerned about the Yankees, it is only April. The Yankees need to play some crappy teams beat up on them and gain confidence, and I am sure they will do fine aganst the better clubs in September and October.

I don't blame Mattingly for this, but some fans and Steinbringer might blame Mattingly for the bad hitting. I think once you get to the Major Leagues, you don't need a hitting coach to baby sit you. It is on the players.

when they are hitting the yankees offense is pretty potent but a bigger question is pitching, because you cant win games without good pitching, because last season red sox offense was a monster, but they couldnt get those 5 outs cuz of pitching

Regardless, someone will have to take the blame. Big Stein has been known to take things out on management and coaching when the team is in a slump.
As much as Mattingly is loved by the Yankee fans, he's not untouchable. His job is in jeopardy if the boys don't start hitting

Very true. You can have 9 A-Rod caliber hitters in your lineup but you would still need good pitching to win.

I don't blame the pitching for this weekend. The Yankees lost their last two games, because of the lack of hitting.

They're not gonna win this season. They lost Clemens, Petitt(sp?), Soriano*, and that fat dude with the 'stache. I know they lost something/one else, but I know they won't win.

*Gained A-Rod for this, though.

2 runs is not great pitching? Yankees are still going to win this series, the Twins only have two good starters in Santana and Radke. Yankees hit Radke well usually. You have to remember, Santana is the best in the AL.

NEW YORK -- Mariano Rivera's celebration of the Yankees' Division Series win was muted on Saturday night, as the closer learned after the game of an accident at his home in Panama.
According to a team source, the accident involved an electric fence surrounding a swimming pool at Rivera's home. Two people, believed to be members of Rivera's wife's family, were killed when they were electrocuted.

Relatives of Rivera's family told The Associated Press that the two people were a cousin of Rivera's wife and his 14-year-old son. The teenager appeared to have touched an electric wire while cleaning the pool, while his father died trying to save him.

Rivera was informed of the accident after the game as his wife, Clara, was taken into the Yankees' clubhouse by team security. She was then escorted out of the clubhouse, visibly shaken, while Rivera got dressed and prepared for the team flight back to New York.

Yankees media relations director Rick Cerrone said after the game that the team would have no comment on the matter, adding that, to his knowledge, the incident wouldn't affect the availability of any player for the American League Championship Series against the Red Sox, scheduled to begin Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.

"This is a private family matter of one our players and we're not going to be able to comment," Cerrone said outside the clubhouse.

Cerrone would not identify the player involved though several sources confirmed that it was Rivera.

"It's a personal issue," said general manager Brian Cashman after Saturday's game. "That's that. We have until 10 a.m. Tuesday to deal with our roster."

Curt Schilling's seven brilliant innings and Mark Bellhorn's three-run homer helped the Red Sox become the first team in MLB history to force a Game 7 after trailing a series 3-0.

Not a Yankee fan, but I believe the will win tonight.

But Bravo to the Sox for taking it to the limit, one more time!;)

Yanks did a poor job. Red Sox had too many runs in the ALCS. The Yanks almost swept a few days ago. But now, Red Sox are in the World Series. Yankee fans will be so disapointed if they can play next season. Sorry about that.:(

I stand corrected! Eating humble pie!

But it was good to see Kevin Brown knocked out in just one inning. That's my sweet revenge for his leaving the Dodgers. Also glad to see Dave Roberts in the series, wasn't such a bad trade for him after all. Hope he gets his ring.
