I truely hate my job. No sick pay, no benefits and I work with a bunch of 'good ol' boys. They are immature, stupid and just plain lazy. It's getting to a point where it's affecting my health. A female co-worker walked out yesterday. I'm thinking about doing the same. My concern is when I apply somewhere else, what kind of questions can they ask about me? My sister-in-law said the company you applied at can only ask if you worked there. I'm a good worker and I don't want the company I work for now to lie and say bad things about me.

Let's see. It's been a while since I applied for a job...

Most applications ask about previous employment, and a few asked me to write in a reason why you left your previous job.
If you don't want to say bad things about your former employer, you could say they weren't giving you enough hours, or something like that.
If you were a good employee, they shouldn't say bad things about you if someone from your new job calls them up and asks about your employment record.

Where I live I believe it's against the law for a former employer to comment on personal issues he may have had with an employee. All they can comment on is how long you worked there, you're attendance record and things like that.

I would quit before walking out and be fired because of it. When you fill the next application quitting looks much better than walking out and there will be less explaining to do

Life is too short. If you are a good worker, you shouldn't have any problems getting another job. Good luck.

My aunt worked for some people that fired her because she didn't "meld well." She was a good worker, but they didn't like her, so they made up some crappy reason and fired her..then subsequently told all other potential employeers that same crap. So unfortunately it happens.

But if you're that unhappy, leave.

Thanks guys. Leaving is easy, it's finding another job that's hard.
