During "Roseanne"'s original run, how come there were barely any (if any at all) episodes that premiered in April? In seasons 1,3, and 8, only 2 were premiered in April. In seasons 2,4, and 5, only one episode premiered in April. Seasons 6, 7, and 9, there were NO episodes that premiered in April. What happened?

Traditionally, a lot of shows show reruns in April. It's the lull before May Sweeps...

As you'll notice from the current tv schdule on ABC, the network likes to run originals of its series from the end of September to the beginning of December. Typically, it will burn 11 episodes this way, leaving about 14 for the rest of the season. Four must fall in each of Feb and May, leaving 8 for December, January March & April. You do the math.

Sep Oct are premiere months, Nov Feb and May are sweeps months so eps almost always air during those months, the other months are less important so I guess they distribute the eps over the most important months then decide where the rest will go.

Also Mar April may be less popular for first run eps because of spring break but Dec and Jan may be more favoured because it is winter and the logic is more people stay in and watch tv during the colder months.

Then again I could be completely wrong.

A lot of shows don't run a lot of new April episodes. As someone said, the networks usually save them for May sweeps(which sometimes start the last week in April).
