I was doing some surfing and came across a message board that I rarely visit. There was a very interesting conversation going on there...one that was a little unbelievable to me, but for those who don't visit that board, I'd thought I'd share. It is basically a thread sparked by someone who thinks a friend of his might be a granddaughter of Lucy and Desi's....with speculation that they had a secret daughter who was put up for adoption in the 40s. Why? I have no idea, but it makes interesting reading nonetheless...

These two pages consist of a series of posts. Read the first link first from the bottom up in order for it to make any sense.

First read....

That sure is weird because the so called abortion/adoption 'happened'(supposedly) in the late 20's early 30's; but I'd never heard of such a thin' while she was married to Desi

WTF?!

Why the heck would Lucy and Desi have a daughter in the '40s that they gave up for adoption when they wanted one SO bad?? That is a lie. That is so ridiculous it's funny.

Plus, they weren't together that much then..Desi was either in the army or on the road.

I agree -- it doesn't really add up. But as for the bottom link which was posted by a guy named Lee, I'm guessin' this Lee is probably Lee Tannen, who wrote "I Loved Lucy." And if he believes in what this person is saying enough to actually put him in touch with the right people (who are Lucy's family, I'm sure), then there might be something to it. Anything is possible.

But, it is still very hard for me to believe.

Judging by the time table they gave, I think Desi would have been out of the army by this point. And although Desi was a busy person, it really only takes one time to make a baby. ;)

Here's another post from the same board, different thread, that adds more fuel to the rumor:

Wow. I'm still kind of processing that whole thing, but I find it hard to believe. Lucy and Desi tried for YEARS to have children, and to me, I just don't think that they'd of had a baby and then given it up for adoption, when a family was something they both desparately wanted. True, anything is possible...but this one is just too weird.

I know of a grandchild of Lucy and Desi Sr, that no one really heard about. But not in the 40's. She was born in 1969.

How could Lucy and Desi have a grandchild that was born in the 40's? Or are you saying Desi Sr. might have been the father?

I cannot get into the site to see the discussion. I have to say it is possible that Desi Sr. may have had a child born besides Lucie and Desi Jr.

Think about it, it was no secret he was with other women, that's what ruined their marriage after all.
