To be honest I think James Evans was a better father than Cliff Huxtable. My reason is I think James gave his kids a sense of reality, like Cliff he wanted his kids to go to college, but he wanted it for a different reason that reason being to bring yourself up from nothing and turn it into something you can be proud of. I think the Evans kids were taught by their father to be survivors something I think Cliff never did, the Huxtable kids grew up having things and never knew what it was like to struggle for anything. I don't think Cliff could understand a man like James Evans. JMO.

he came close to whooping him, in Let's Do it Again". As for the the question in hand, I would rather be a Evans. With Cliff everything was a joke, never any serious episodes. And they smiled too damn much:D Theo is upset because of a joint someone slips into his book. Common sense would've told him to throw it away, or smoke it. Like I would've.

James Evans all the way; he worked his behind off for his family that proves that he was the better man..Cliff seemed to just sit around on the couch stuffing his face..James Evans was more realistic father figure than Bill Cosby's character, which in my opinion was a complete joke..I mean how many families (Caucasian or African-American) in America have a doctor for a father and a lawyer for a mother...Get Real:rolleyes:

Cliff Huxtable?? Why not compare James to a cardboard cut-out...it's pretty much the same thing!! (Don't get me wrong, Bill Cosby's funny as hell, but his Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable {how many Black people you know named "Heathcliff", anyway? Really, how mny Black parents would name their kid "Heathcliff" to begin with? But I digress...} was strictly from DULLSVILLE!)

Now, if we were talking about Chet Kincaid or Alexander Scott...(or, for that matter, Fat Albert...);)

I think the Huxtable family was being portrayed as sophisticated and classy. If you really watch it and think about some of the other stuff:

Huxtable- now tell me that doesn't sound like a CLASSY name.

Family entertainment- we usually play cards, but they lip-sync Ray Charles for the grandparents. How many other families in the world do that? Again, CLASSY.

"Huxtable Residence"- CLASSY

Rudith? CLASSY. Just call her Ruth dammit:crazy:

A doctor and lawyer who's always smiling, but never go anywhere. And they were snotty as hell.

Remember the episode at the end where Cliffs goes to the kitchen and brings out like a million cakes. The scene where the both of them were slobbering all over the cake was one of the most stupidest scenes that I have ever seen. It was just something about it ticked me off.

What about Uncle Phil (James Avery) from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

Definitely James!! And if he hadn't been killed, the last episode of the series would have been better, as he would have been in the 'finally getting out of the ghetto!' celebration.

Yeah, true. And there was a final Good Times eps., "The End Of The Rainbow" when they finally got out of the ghetto. When Keith and Thelma became parents-to-be and when he signed up to play for the Chicago Bears.
