I have to say that he brought that character to life. I don't think no one else could've played him. For one, James' character wasn't all that bright. LOL. As tough-minded as he was, he really did act like someone who was lacking in education. As a kid, John Amos had me thinking that was actually him. He even looked it (especially dressed it). Credit him for superb acting. He ranks up there with Fred Sanford and the first Mr. Wilson from Dennis the Menace as guys who literally brought their characters to life. Oh, i used to love dennis growing up. The second wilson was no way as good as the first one. I think I'll start that on the Dennis board.

what I found funny about the James characyer is when he got a compliment from women and gave that modest laugh and Florida would mock him and laugh like him!
