1).Jack punching out the tall guy who tried to pick up Chrissy because he was so afraid of a tall guy in the reagle beagle the previous season.

2.Jack asking his pretty girl to leave so he could spend the rest of the evening with the Fat Girl because Jack already stated he threw the flowers in the wrong window so why did he get mad at his girlfriend when she asked the fat girl to leave?

3).Jack sleeping in the same bed with OLD Man Leo inside his room when he could have just slept on the couch.

4.Jack using a computer to get a date when he never used that type of service before.

5).Jack being afraid to move in with Vicky in the last episode-because he was acting like he never had a girlfriend. What guy refuses to move in with a girl when it was HER idea?-LOL And because they were not married he was hesitant to move in? Strangest Jack Tripper Moment for me.

He never punched him out.He told him bug out, leave, vamos or he would(acts like he knew karate),but he never knocked him out. You're thinking of when he knocked out the cop who called Chrissy a hooker

He was mad at his girlfriend because she was being rude to the fat girl just because she was fat! Jack was being a nice guy!

The reason Jack was afraid to move in with Vicky, is because Jack was taught the traditional way, you don't sleep together until after you're married! That's the way it's supposed to be!!

So what you are saying is Jack never slept with any of the girls he went out with from 77-84?-LOL So he was a virgin when he moved in with Vicky?

I have nothing against Jack. He is one of my Favorite TV characters of All time. I was just puzzled by some situations. He always wanted to fool around with the girls but when a female askes him to move in with her he was scared. And i was saying to myself, why would a grown man be scared to move in with a woman.

Jack was my Favorite character. I was just upset when he told the Bunny to leave and wanted to spend the evening with the heavy girl.LOL He should have started dating her since he asked his girlfriend to leave.

So .. whats wrong with the heavy girl? You`re very discriminating! Looks arent everything you know? Personalities are what count , but thats something you obviously dont have!

It was nothing wrong with her she was just no competition for Jack's girlfriend. Not only was Jack's girl pretty, but she was very sweet, reserved and intelligent. So i'm saying since Jack gave all of that up to spend the evening with the less attractive girl, he should have became her new boyfriend-LOL

ok u are not making any sense at all!!!! they wouldnt have stayed whether she was pretty or not. they planned to leave cause they thought that jack had a date with that southern witch!when they found out bernice was the wrong girl they left anyway cause they thought that he made the date and he is going to go through with it. and as far as them telling jack that they were going to be out late........what does that have to do with them "laughing?"

Because Jack told terri and janet in the kirchen that he didn't want to be with Bernice which is why they were trying to be funny saying they would be out very late when they were leaving the apt..

My question is why Janet refused to leave the apt when Jack was with a girl who was his type? So that should tell you that they knew Jack didn't want to spend the evening with a female who was not his type. So they were having fun with the fact that Bernice was not a LOOKER

OMG!!!!! JANET REFUSED TO LEAVE MANY TIMES B/C EITHER SHE HAD A DATE OR SHE DIDNT WANT TO LEAVE AND HAVE TO STAY OUT FOR HOURS BY HERSELF! IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BERNICE NOT BEING A "LOOKER" IN THAT EP. HER AND TERRI WERE GOING TO LEAVE WHETHER BERNICE WAS THERE OR ARABELLA!!!!!!

..i am a grown man, and sometimes the idea of comitment can scare a guy. it is one thing to think of the ideals of a perfect situation, and how they lead to moving in with a chick, but when you are actually aproached with the realities of moving in with someone, you may think "am i moving too fast? is this person right? am i doing the right thing for the right reasons?" He did the same exact thing in the episode where the old man sleeps over. I mean the old man started a fire in Jack's bed and he chooses the old man over the beautiful woman. What was that all about?

I think the original poster has made some good points.

It didn't make sense that he would choose some firestarter old man over his girlfriend.

Janet WAS being a smart *ss when she said they would be out late. She knew Jack didn't want to be stuck with Bernice, and she was probably thinking, "Ha ha, I hope Bernice makes a move on him so he's uncomfortable."

If Jack loved Vicky enough to marry her, why was he acting like a scared little boy the first time they went to bed? It certainly wasn't his first time. That part was unbelievable.

Like I said before, Jack was taught that a man should marry a woman before he moves in with her!! That's why he was scared when she didn't want to get married, and just live together!
Jack was thinking like all men should. If you live with a woman, you should be married to her!!

ok its about being a good person!!! those two girls were so rude. who gave them the right to throw a poor old man out. clearly the fire was an accident. and then saying that jack was too nice to throw bernice out and that he felt sorry for her. that is RUDE!!! why would you want to stay with a girl like that? just because she was pretty? if thats the case than he wouldnt have been any better of a person than she is and that is a stupid reason!!!!
and im pretty sure that janet didnt want jack to feel uncomfortable. if u know her at all then u would know that she is not like that. she may have been being sarcastic but so wasnt terri.oh and by the way, the lines went like this:
janet: we are going to be out late
terri: oh very very late.
so terri was the one who pushed it!!!

I understood why Jack chose Bernice over Arabella. He did the right thing. But I did not understand about Vicky either. I mean since the show came on we were supposed to believe that Jack and his pal Larry were Ladies men. Why then was he so scared of living with Vicky? That was a side of Jack that I had not seen before.

Jack was being a REAL man! Real men stay virgins until they are married! That's the way it was intended to be! When I get married, it will be to a man who is a virgin because we will share our first time together in the bonds on marriage. Any guy who thinks being a virgin is for losers is the guy who's going to find out that when he wants to settle down, he'll be the loser because no good woman wants to be with a man who fools around!!!

1).Jack punching out the tall guy who tried to pick up Chrissy because he was so afraid of a tall guy in the reagle beagle the previous season.
Well...when it comes to his roommates he's very protective.

2.Jack asking his pretty girl to leave so he could spend the rest of the evening with the Fat Girl because Jack already stated he threw the flowers in the wrong window so why did he get mad at his girlfriend when she asked the fat girl to leave?
He got mad at his girlfriend because she was so rude to the other girl, even though it was a mistake. After his girlfriend told the fat girl (Bernice) that Jack just felt sorry for her, it really hurt Bernice's feelings and Jack didn't like hurting people. And that's that.

3).Jack sleeping in the same bed with OLD Man Leo inside his room when he could have just slept on the couch.
:rotflmao: Now that one, I have no explanation. That is pretty weird.

4.Jack using a computer to get a date when he never used that type of service before.
You pretty much just answered that yourself...he never used that type of service before, so he probably just wanted to try something new.

Well, he was old fashioned in a way I guess. He was fine having girlfriends, but he just couldn't picture living with (and sleeping in the same bed with) someone he wasn't married to.

i think what it comes down to is the writers/producers probably failed to comeup w/ newer material so they had to resort to what if situations with the characters. not that there is anything wrong with that. but you have to realize the writers /producers back in 1984 weren't too worried about as fine detailing a program -say as now perhaps. to them they're writing for a situation comedy, as long as the people laughed, i'm sure they didn't care( or were worried) about if the character went against the grain.

Janet Tripper

About that last question w/him and Vicky......I think he was nervous about that b/c even though he always thought of himself as a big lady's man and all that he was an old fashion boy!

An example of this is when he thought his girlfriend was going to have a baby. (But it was acutally Larry's GF that was preg.) He was super confused on that and didn't think he had gotten her preg. but when the girls told him about it- he asked her to marry him.

Also when that lady in season 8 wanted Jack to be the father of her baby. He said it himself he didn't believe in that. B/C if he was going to be a father he wanted to be married and be a good father that the baby could grow up w/!

So Jack was and old fashion boy! That is why he would make such a cute couple w/Janet b/c they were both old fashion:D!~!~!

I don't think Jack was a virgin. I thought Jack asked Linda to marry him because he thought he got her pregnant. Its been awhile since I seen that episode so I could be wrong.

As for the rest of this thread, I think that Jack was nervous about the Vicki situation only because it was his first night alone, in their own place together, different room, different bed, different everything. It was a major step for Jack, he had never shared a place with a girlfriend before. The only thing I don't get is if he was that nervous moving in with her, how did he think he would handle moving in with and marrying her. He would have been 100 times more nervous.

I have no clue why Jack didn't sleep on the couch when Leo was staying in the apartment, I think that one will remain a mystery.

Jack did the right thing by kicking his girlfriend out when she told bernice to leave. She was rude, and had no business telling her anything:rolleyes:

Original Quote from Vegas Girl: Jack's Girl, I think you're forgetting that Jack was NOT A VIRGIN.
And good luck to you finding a man who is, seriously....

Vegas Girl, I'm sorry that you think that Jack was not a virgin, because I think he was. When did he ever talk about sleeping with a girl? Yes, he was a ladies man, but he was all talk. As for your other comment, yes there are male virgins in this world!
:faint: That may be hard for you to believe, but where I live, I know several. I'm sorry if that's not the case for you.

MistyDoll
04-19-2004, 11:17 PM
I also think Jack was all talk and didn't went all the way with a girl. Jack was too old fashioned and believed in love and marriage.

I think when Jack believed Lynda was pregnant, Jack thought it was by someone else, because I think Jack & Lynda were not a serious couple and were dating other people, so Jack only wanted to do the right think by marrying Lynda so she wouldn't be alone in raising a child. Just like when Jack asked Cindy to marry him when he thought she was pregnant.:)

Sorry you are WRONG. Jack was not a Virgin. In the episode when Janet was a gym instructor and her BOSS wanted Jack, Jack was telling Terri that he and her went dancing every night. And Terri said-"she can't expect you to go out dancing every night."

And Jack's response was-"
Terri the dancing is the easy part"

So hearing that statement lets us know Jack was not a virgin

Yeah remember the ep when Jack was trying to get his wine license? In the ending Tag scene, Furley was on the Floor inside the kitchen of Jack's Bistro with the Big Women

The episode where Jack is trying to get his wine license is "The Brunch" and in its tag scene Furley and Felipe emerge from the kitchen drunk from champaign. I think the big woman you are referring to was one of Larry's relatives in "Opening Night" when Larry brings his Greek family to the bistro.

Regarding Jack supposedly "being a virgin", when he was the mechanical man and he and Larry were both unknowingly dating the same girl, his comments said that he was "getting it on" with her.

I don't believe he thought Linda was pregnant by another man.
If that's the case, he would have let the real father step up to the plate and do the right thing.

There were other shows too that indicated he was not a virgin.

Well what do you think Jack meant when he said going out dancing with Janet's boss was the easy Part? He was obviously talking about sex.

You dont know that! How would you know if he meant it or not?
You`d only no if he was a virgin if you asked him or slept with him , and either way , Jack DID move in with Vicky and he did SLEEP with her , so lets just end this b/c its no use worth fighting over!

I'm saying if that statement by Jack to Terri was not proof that he wasn't a virgin then we should just end the discussion on that topic.

If Jack was a virgin on Three's Company, then I'm Charlie Sheen. What's next, someones gonna say Larry was a virgin too.

Jack:Larry you used another man's name, another man's car, didn't you use anything of your own

Larry:Well..

I agree that Jack was not a virgin. In the episode "Will the real Jack Tripper" Janet says to Jack, " Your no saint, you thought you got her pregnant, now how was that suppose to happen, Telepathy?" Jack changed the subject after that.
So yeah, my vote is that Jack is not a virgin.

an episode that seems to come up alot is the old man leo, in why jack and him slept in the same bed. well after watching it recently i can tell you this ......i have no idea. the whole seen sleeping in the same bed came with no explanation....i just dont know what the purpose of it was in that episode. jack used to always sleep on the couch when ever there were guest/family visiting ...etc....people who say it was uncharacteristic of jack to do so are right, i'm not sure what point the writers were trying to make with that.

I know because when Chrissy's father spend the night, Jack would sleep on the couch. Now you have this strange old man you just met and you have him sleep in your bed instead of the couch. Leo was supposed to be on the couch.
