Bang A Gong 04-17-2004, 10:53 AM SparkNotes has helped me pass many a test. And if I have to write an essay on a book, I just use SparkNotes chapter summaries. I love that place. webuster 04-17-2004, 11:19 AM I agree with Idol Fanatic- I've found Classic Notes to be better than the other two. I've used them a few times- once to help with understanding 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'- and it helped immensely, explaining the play, as well as giving a backstory and how world events at the time influence the play greatly. PZelda 04-17-2004, 11:43 AM I wuv SparkNotes. My 11th grade English teacher recommended it to me when I was having problems with "The Scarlet Letter" in class - and I ended up loving TSL. What a neat book! :D FamilyTiesGOP 04-17-2004, 12:11 PM I've actually never used any kind of notes to help me in English class in HS or college. FamilyTiesGOP 04-17-2004, 02:07 PM I know about Shakespeare. I had to read Romeo and Juliet, MacBeth, Hamlet, and The Tempest in high school. Of those Hamlet was the hardest. The main reason I love them is that they're all free online, so you don't have to buy a physical book to read them. I'm an English major, and I've used that site countless times. Swimfan85 04-17-2004, 05:23 PM it depends on the book if I use them, some nights I just can't get my reading down because seriously with such a demanding course load...I cant always get the reading down, so I sometimes go to www.bookrags.com which I find to be helpful, not as well known but still helpful, like when we read Cat's Cradle, I didnt really understand it so I went to bookrags PZelda 04-17-2004, 08:04 PM Originally posted by Kristen I agree!
