as you are all probably aware of, i have excessive laughing problems and i always think everything is really funny. i was taking paxil for a long time and it helped stop it, but i'm off it now so i laugh at everything again. so a while ago me and my brother were waiting for a tv show to come on and it was finishing showing credits to a movie and it was going on for a while and my brother like "god this is probably gonna take like a half an hour" and i burst out laughing.. and he was like "you really need some anti laughter medication." i dont know why but i think the idea of movie credits going on for a half an hour is hilarious. so do you all think thats funny too or do i need to get help? vote please

Well sometimes inappropiate laughter is a common symptom
of mental illness.I'm not a health expert but I've read some
information on www.webmd.com,You may want to look
up some information about mental health.Just tryin to help.;)

I know what you were thinking--inappropriate laughter is a symptom of schizophrenia so you asked if she was a schizo.

But the kind of laughter schizophrenics will have is laughter during really bad things, like death. Sarah isn't doing that! Her laughter isn't a big deal I don't think. I laugh at weird stuff all the time too.

I guess that's true, cause my dad used to have an cousin
who would laugh at inappropiate times, like if a a bad thing
happened or somebody was in the hospital.Maybe he
was schizophrenic.I really don't know.

I didn't know that until today, but it's interesting. The point of this is ONLY meant to be informative. Nothing else is supposed to be read into it. Wanted to make that clear.

Medical Minute: Uncontrollable Laughter

One million Americans a year are diagnosed with a specific condition that causes uncontrollable laughing or crying, causing embarrassment in social situations. Now, there's a way to settle these hard-to-control emotions.

Zoot Wilson and his wife Marysa are back in step now, having fun with daily dance lessons, but that wasn't always the case. Zoot has Lou Gehrig's disease. He's being treated for one of its side effects, uncontrollable laughter.

"She said I laughed at the most inopportune times. I laughed at stuff that wasn't funny, but I was very frustrated. I knew I was frustrated, but the laughter part?" he says.

Marysa Wilson Zoot's wife, says, "He was humored by things that weren't necessarily appropriate or as funny as he thought them to be."

A therapy under study by neurologist Ralph Richter targets the pathways of the brain that control our emotions.

Ralph W. Richter, M.D. Neurologist and Psychiatrist, says, "It may be in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. It may also be deeper in the thalamus, which in some sense the soul, is the seat of the soul, or emotion."

Zoot joined the trial and takes this drug every day. "I'm just happier. My emotions are more even."

The benefit is toward quality of life. If you're not embarrassing yourself or feel embarrassed, you're going to feel better about yourself."

No longer on an emotional roller coaster, Zoot says he's enjoying himself with a sense of humor and some smooth moves on the dance floor.

With Lou Gehrig's disease, you would have other symptoms, besides inappropriate laughter. I think it causes people to lose their coordination and other neurological symptoms.

Stroke victims often have this problem. It is a neurological(sp?) condition.

It is a neurological condition, with symptoms similar to MS.

yeah but it feels edgy to have links to my posts all over a thread.

I'm not sure what you mean, but I was just replying to your original post. You were asking for opinions. The reason I posted the link before was for proof, since everyone demands hard proof for everything. So, I didn't want there to be any question to the reliability of it. I'm sorry if you don't like the post, but there's nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't have needed to include the link if I had realized that your original thread was here in random posts, I thought it was on the main chit chat board, but I couldn't find it, and I know how you hate threads to be bumped so I created a new one, and afterwards I found your post. I hope that clears everything up.
i mean that it's uncomfortable to see links to my posts all over the place.

i think it is pretty funny in a sadistic, over-exaggerated ridiculous sort of way, but i dont think i would laugh out loud about it

when I saw the SouthPark movie in the theatre, i timed the commercials at the beginning at 24 minutes and roughly 20 seconds.... i couldn't stop laughing (or making assinine comments) at that :)
